Default idle problems possibly?

Hey guys,

I took off my cone filter and replaced it with my stock air box. I still have my custom intake pipe and all.

I noticed that when I rev the car, the idle will be around 1,000 then drop and go back up? When I stop revving the engine and just leave everything alone while the car is still on, it seems as though the car is trying hard to have the idle go back up.

When I go to the back of the car, I can hear from the exhausts inconsistent sounds. Like a low rumble then no rumble and the some.

Is this because the car is not getting enough air in the car when I rev? What do you guys think? Thanks alot!

Bryan

Reset your ECU, it has to get used to the stock filter. The cone filter was letting in more air, now that you have the stock air-box the computer is wondering what happened to all the air. Your car will be fine.

I revved the car today while the car was in park and it stalled. The check engine light came on, but after I restarted the car everything was fine. The problem only occurs when I rev.

Thanks for your help guys!

Sounds like the problem still isn't solved.

I concur. I have a feeling that having the custom intake pipe with the stock air box makes it difficult for the car to suck in air from a stop.

I don't think that's the problem. Have you reset your computer yet?

How about putting back the stock intake piping, maybe that might cure the problem. Reset your computer after you do this.

I'm going to put the stock intake piping and put the k&n back on. BTW is it necessary to reset the ecu all the time? I've been doing that alot lately. Today I disconnected the battery to cut a wire.

you should unplug the battery terminal when working on any electronics on the car. also you shoudl reset the ecu anytime you make a change to the engine like exhaust, intake, chip, or anything like that.

Well guys, today I replaced the intake with the stock one and put the k&N cone filter back in. Everything is back to normal and I notice the car responds quicker when I floor it!
