94 GS300 Keyless Entry Issues
Hello, I have a 94 GS300 that when purchased, did not have the keyless entry key.
After doing research, it appeared as though the 89742-24070 transmitter/key was OEM, so I purchased it. After following the instructions posted elsewhere on this forum, my car wouldn't seem to enter pairing mode. I tried different variations of the instructions, until this seemed to work:
All Doors locked
Unlock and open diver door.
(Unlock + Lock) for 10 cycles
Car automatically cycles once
Held button on key
Car automatically cycles once
But then the key wouldn't work. After doing some research and finding basically nothing, I turned to the illustrious ChatGPT who was quick to tell me my FCC ID was incorrect.
My Key's FCC ID is HYQWDT-B, and it tells me the correct one might be something else. Could this be true? I am hesitant to trust ChatGPT so any advice would be helpful.
I also could not find where my key receiver is located, in case the FCC ID is printed on it.
Help locating the key receiver, giving an explanation as to why the 10 cycle unlock thing kind of works, checking to see if my key is correct, or any general advice is more than welcome.
I have also looked into getting an aftermarket keyless entry system if that would be easier.
Thanks!
