Finally building a tranny
So after destroying four TT automatic transmissions. I've simply had enough . So with the help of some of the great threads out there in cyber world. I'm finally moving forward with a fully built tranny.. Here are a couple of pics of what we discovered so far..
Glazed brake dist 2 gear
Glazed 3rd forward brake dist..
Very common problem with these trannys when pushing them over 500 RWHP
tear down
These Raybestos blue plates are discontinue for the A340E's supposedly their capable of 900 plus horsepower. . However I'm forced to used the stage 1 red plates for the low/rev and clutch plates these are 600-700 capable... The blue plates are the forward, intermediate and OD (2nd, 3rd and 4th).
I'll keep you guys posted..

Thanks Greg
Thanks Ed.. I know the 2nd gear sprag is problematic on these trannys in a street/strip like scenario (off the line WOT).. I'm really just focused on helping the tranny hold the power 40mph on up. As you know the majority of us really don't do the 1/4 mile thing. I know my car was never, capable of any respectable runs in a 1/4 mile.. Just to much turbo lack . I'm building this tranny to hold the power in the mid to top end power range. This is where I mostly abuse it ..
The answer to this question was sort of answered in the post above . ATF is not building my transmission. But if they did the 2nd gear sprag is their signature piece. However the valve body is from them. All other addition to this upgrade is just from me reading a punch of threads about A340E. I'm really gambling here and hoping for the best..I'm having a customer of mine build the tranny. I got as far as the valve body and said, yeah I don't think so.. Sau seems to know his stuff, so again I'm really gambling. $$$$$ is a huge factor. If all goes accordingly. This tranny build could be a budget build for a lot of us hard working stiffs. I have my fingers crossed and my legs ..lol
