You don't think this is the coolest truck ever built? I have a few friends who are truck owners, and they are drooling over it. Even my work colleagues in Texas love this thing. I think if you drove one, or any other Tesla you would probably understand better. No cult here, just people who are fascinated by something that everyone thought was impossible to build

No door dings is a HUGE benefit.
Door dings are easily repaired, and modern paint shops are very eco friendly. The panels still have all the negative attributes I listed above. Also don’t ignore the INSANE cost of repairing this if it ever is in an accident.

I bet those panels add to the cost of the CT more than I have spent on dent repair in my entire life. Without them the vehicle would be higher range, higher performance with better payload and cheaper. Very Elon!

I will take that bet. Very few traditional pickups ever get used, this ain’t getting used lol. This is ALL status and style.

Because one person takes any negative comment about Elon or Tesla as a personal attack and feels he needs to personally refute each one.

It’s super creepy I agree, also really makes me not want to ever buy a Tesla.

I think it’s a super cool vehicle. Is it a truck? No. If I were buying a pickup I wouldn’t even consider this, but I would only buy a pickup if I actually needed a pickup. Out in CA where you live these will be everywhere. Rodeo Drive will be full of them.

I was initially disappointed, like a lot of others, after learning about the Cybertruck's official range and price. Now that I've had some time to absorb it all, I've accepted the new prices and feel relatively good about the Long Range model at ~$72,000 after the tax credit. That feels fair to me and overall, I'm pretty excited about it. I'm definitely back in my "gotta have it" feelings towards it.

I'm glad we have a relatively early pre-order but hate the part we're at now which is having to forget all about it until Tesla emails and says it's time to configure...

What is the cost? Be specific since you know.

Very few people that I know actually use a truck as a truck, the same is going to be true for the Cyber Truck. My friend for example who has a Raptor does take it off road, but you can see his bed liner has never been used for anything more than a cooler and bags.

Will people buy this as a work truck? Probably other than going camping, I doubt it. The reality is, it would probably work better than most work trucks, but at least for the next few years, that won't be it's customer base. As you said, it's going to be all over Palo Alto and Rodeo Drive

For those that say the stainless panels are just for show, you have zero idea what you're talking about. Zip. Cybertruck has no side impact door beams they don't exist. The HFS panels are so strong they are not needed. The entire stainless outer shell is structural.

This is what happens when you want something to be true versus facts. Go to about 20:00

I will say it again, claims that this truck will never be used for work will age very poorly. It is the perfect work vehicle.

If you think about it, using cold rolled stainless steel on the outside was pretty ingenious, IMO. Yes, it is heavy, hard to form and not cheap, but Tesla was able to save money by not having to build a reinforced frame. This is most likely going to make this the safest vehicle in a crash.

As far as efficiency, I'm betting this is going to be more efficient than any electric truck despite its weight. I'll wait for the numbers to come out before I thump my chest

The manufacturing process was definitely not cheap, so it will be limited to the Cyber Truck, and it should be to keep it special

You think fleets are gonna buy this over plain-Jane white ICE work trucks? I doubt that.

This thing will be all over Los Angeles, and I mean ALL OVER. It's just a status symbol.

Tesla is using air rolling the machine itself never touches the metal there is a very high pressure pneumatic film. They did this because direct contact causes the metal to crack due to exponential force in a small area, air spreads it out.

So a side impact test on the Cybertruck requires two doors to be replaced, maybe some glass and interior pieces. Same test on every other vehicle totals it. But the stainless panels are just there because Elon something something.

Inventing new alloys, processes and tooling is not cheap but at the same time there is cross over from SpaceX. No paint shop is a gigantic saving (Sandy Munro has talked about this quite a bit). It is quite funny to me for anyone to claim that automotive paints are environmentally friendly. I buy paint on the regular the vendor that mixes paint has a giant system in place to deal with the toxic emissions. That is just the paint mixer, now consider the production of paint and the mass application in a factory.

100%. Money saving is king for a work truck having one that requires almost no maintenance, is basically impossible to damage, provides on board charging etc. makes a great work vehicle.

You really think you'll see utility companies, etc. driving these? Interstate construction?

It’s common sense. Teslas are already very expensive to repair, come on you’re a smart guy.
