I feel that Lucid is targeting the luxury market way more than Tesla, I am just not sure there are as many buyers for those cars. It’s not like the Model S sells in large numbers. The Lucid in comparison is way more luxurious than the S as are many cars. The S does what it does well but to me it isn’t close to being a luxury car.
Lucid also has some insane performance centric aspects with the chassis and steering, the underside treatments are sick as well. If they didn't look so bad they would be my top choice if I was forced to have an EV, if the interior had a little more classy of a layout that would be great as well. I like the fact you can hide the aux screen, the two I tried out drove well but were unexciting to me/didn't speak to me at all.
Very nice cars though and I would pick them over a any Tesla any day.

Still likely to be way upside down when you want to trade. I have a friend who has 60k miles on her Model S and is $25k upside down.
We may just run it into the ground, so I'm not worried about that. It's just an appliance that's cheap to maintain. I would never do that with a Lucid, or any ICE vehicle.

She’s just going to run it into the ground but she wishes she had leased.
i leased my tesla because the deal was good and got the $7500 in the deal, but the buyout in 3 years is only $29k so quite appealing! especially since i doubt it will have more than 20k miles on it.

I’m surprised you didn’t think the interior was classy. I thought it had great materials and the tech was great even if it was glitchy. I don’t think the exterior looks bad at all, I think it looks kind of futuristic but I just find it too boring to me.
all this praise for lucid (and i don’t disagree, the air is nice and the gravity is even better for those than want a very roomy 3 row suv)…
must be why they sell like spoiled milk.
They are (relatively) expensive, and Lucid's long term viability is still unclear. Neither of these two help sales, and that's before we even get to the recent stupidity.

For an EV it's very nice, I wanted there to be more real leather and a better wood option or metal etc. The cloth inserts are cool and all but I want it wrapped in leather, same deal with the wood being matte and not bookmatched or inlayed. I get the style they are going for and if you like MCM and ultra modern design it's great but to me it's boring.
It's VERY nice don't get me wrong but not my taste/lacks overt luxury styling, exterior is the big killer for me. Looks like an XL Prius with a stubby nose due to the liftgate arcing down past the C pillar, I get it that it's all for aero effectiveness but I just don't like it nearly as much as a Taycan. It drives very well and I like that aspect a lot, I just want that in a body that doesn't make me cringe/feel repulsed by the car and an interior that I actually feel impressed to be in.
Even with those detractors it is one of only 2 EVs I actually considered enough to rent to see how they made me feel. Other was the plaid but that was just not a luxury car, I wanted to consider the Taycan at the time but it was just too far behind performance wise. If I was to look around again it would be my first choice followed by the air, biggest issue for me is not being able to have total control over them so I have no real long term interest in owning one.

Yeah I think the main issues are long term viability, and styling. Lets me honest, if it looked great all around, it wouldn't matter the price. When you get to this range, a few thousand is not going to sway people that much. Problem for me is the rear end styling, though I actually like the front. The high belt line, and the weird roof (the way it "attaches" to the body) don't it many favors. The same goes for the Gravity. Lucid is stuck with this design of clamshell rear end, and it doesn't work for me.
