Well, between those various posts you tried to leave us with the impression that it was your PHEV that did that whereas an EV could not, hence the questions...

Going back to my previous post I put 2,990 miles on the rental car in the past 4 weekends. It was primarily used for road trips. I believe I used it 2-3x to pick up food/kids around town when weather was bad and I didn’t want to drive one of our other vehicles.
I charge 80 percent normally. Occasional 90 percent when going out of town. 80 or 90 percent when I travel really makes no difference, as I still make the same charging stops. At charging stops I'll charge to whatever is recommended level that gets me fastest to my destination. Traveling to SoCal, max charging time is 25 minutes

Sorry for the miscommunication. I was happy to put all of those miles on the rental.

Ive only made 2 roadtrips in my PHEV since I’ve had it. Once reaching our destination I switch over to EV mode around the city/town. In one instance I was able to charge at the hotel. Then on the journey back home, back to hybrid mode.

Got it. The Rav4 Prime is an excellent road trip vehicle. As an aside, if you don't already have one, a Tesla to J1772 adapter will let you access thousands of (often free) Level 2 Tesla destination chargers at hotels etc.

With said adapter I would need a Tesla account correct?

I'm pretty sure they work like a home charger. All you should need is an adapter to use it. No account required.

Oh yeah. My neighbor has a 45e. He works from home. Only goes around town to pick up/drop off kids from nearby school. He hasn't had to refill his tank for a while. And when he needs to go on a trip, not 600 but pretty close to it, a whopping 550+ miles worry free to go. Nothing beats that. Not to mention it's loaded with all the luxurious features. Surprisingly, this is not uncommon on G05 forums. It's only here.

If I have to drive 550 miles one way, it's by plane. I don't care if I own a Hybrid, an EV or a Huracan

So how many people actually drive 550 to 600 miles without stopping? The answer is almost no one. So literally the only thing you have to do is combine a short charge session with a stop(s) you will make anyway and you're broadly in the same position regardless of what you're driving.

I guess it's possible if you have a camel size bladder. Or better yet, wear adult diapers

i just don't think that's accurate. if someone is driving 550/600 miles at highway speeds, they may well need to stop twice or more or arrive with an almost empty battery.
most ev's are what 250mi. range on a FULL battery at start, and to go from 0-250 AGAIN is going to be an hour or more, or more likely for the 'short charge session' you speak of, you're only adding 100-150mi. so that means THREE stops on a 600mi. trip, or perhaps 2 hours of charging. plus there's no absolute guarantee someone's going to get super fast charging especially with a non-tesla.

i've not done a road trip yet but likely will in the next few months. it's 265 mi. and i know i will stop mid way and i expect to be stopped for an hour. it will be a pain in the butt but i will be expecting it at least. if it goes faster, great.

and your lightning battery is probably twice the size of my ioniq's so even longer to charge.

well, we’re actually on a drive as I type, driving one of our cars back from the San Diego area to home. Had we been in my Lightning, with current conditions and assuming 100% beginning SOC the trip would require two 30 minute stops to get us home with a 10% buffer (per ABRP).

you can be sure we’ll be stopping for 30 mins today a couple of times on this trip for lunch/gas/coffee etc. so for us today the trip could have been accommodated in my Lightning in about the same time.

edit - it’s about 475 miles, and no, I’m not currently driving.

edit 2 - as big as my battery is, it fast charges from 15% to 80% in about 40 mins - faster than the smaller SR lightning battery as I have two onboard chargers to the SR’s one.

So recent road trips 250 mile drive I did in October was non stop while towing a car on a U-Haul transport trailer (all 4 wheels off the ground).

This past weekend I just did a 230 mile drive non stop towing car on same trailer.

I live 10 miles from the highway. Once I reach the highway I’m running 80+mph depending on which vehicle I’m driving.

On a 317 mile drive, it’s a 3.8 mile drive from my house to the highway in that direction and once I hit the highway I’m running 80+mph for 172 miles. Then exit to a backroad highway where running between 55-70mph for 49 miles. Here on this highway is where I make my 1 and only fuel stop. Then once I get back to main highway I’m back running 80+mph until I reach my exit. This is also while towing car on U-Haul trailer or towing a 8.5x26ft enclosed trailer with same car inside plus misc toolbox generator etc. I arrived with just over half of tank of fuel left.

On 486 miles drive towing U-Haul trailer with car on it, it’s 3.8 mile drive from my house to highway then I’m at highway speed for pretty much the entire trip. I believe we made 1 fuel stop.

Ok now non towing, on the 250 and 230 mile trip I make these trips non stop. And also back on same tank of gas. edit: Rav hybrid

I made a 232 mile trip and back on same tank of gas. I did a turnaround trip. When I turned around, I did stop to use the restroom. On one our my vehicles I had 120 mile remaining after the 232 mile trip and that’s not including the 2 gallons reserve after the refuel light (0 mile to empty) pops up. Edit: Rav hybrid

On our 542 mile family trip, 3.8 miles to main highway from home. Then from there it’s similar direction as the 317 mile trip. Enroute we make 1 stop to fuel and grab a bite to eat. Then from there we are non stop to our destination. Edit: this is driving our LX 570. I made this drive in my LS 460 without stopping for fuel.

I set GPS before leaving the driveway. I try to beat or match the time it says I will arrive. I will say if I’m traveling alone or with family, we pack snacks and something to sip (not drink).

I could probably do a 250 mile trip with no stops, but I wouldn't take that chance, so I would have to do at least a 10 minute stop for some juice

Average 80 on I5? Wow you must be @@@@ lucky or …. Lol It takes about 15mins to get about 150miles. Even if you can get out in 25mins, you will need to charge again at your destination. No?
