Default Lotus Eletre and Emeya First Look and Drive

Looks like this is going to be an awesome car. I can see this all over Southern Cal when it comes out!

I saw it in person and was not impressed.

Lotus made 1,600 cars last year i think.
This whole EV thing is a pipe dream unless its made in China and just badged as Lotus. The general public has no connection to this brand.

I didn't think you would be, surprise, surprise. It must be a very vivid dream with EV's outselling every other ICE brand in California and Europe, California being the largest auto market in the US. The only vehicle outselling EV's (in the US only) is pickup trucks, non V8 of course. You don't strike me to be the pickup truck type

What does that have to do with Lotus?! They can’t sell ICE vehicles and are definitely not well positioned to sell EVs.

Also besides the Model 3 and the Model Y - there are no other EV cars that have any meaningful sales volume at all. ICE continues to outsell EVs in huge quantities even though there are financial incentives for consumers to get an EV.

Tesla is cutting prices like crazy and basically destroyed the values of the Model X and Model Y for the existing owners.

Lucid is giving away their car with $700 lease on a $85k sedan.

Rivian is still working through production issues and reliability with ones that were delivered.

Let’s not even go into the charging network infrastructure issues…

It’s definitely not all sunshine and rainbows for EVs!

You made a general statement about EV's, not Lotus, at least that was my understanding. Tesla is outselling everyone, and last I heard, they build EV's . Which mean people want EV's. Lots of people, like over 400K per quarter people. The problem is other automakers haven't figured out how to make them profitable. Saying there is no demand for EV's is just a pure lie, I'm not going to sugar coat it.

We all know why Tesla is cutting prices...to put a knife into the heart of their competition, which also includes ICE. Ask Toyota how they feel about it. Yes it's hurting Model S and X owners, but who cares? If it gives consumer lower priced cars, I'm all for it

Everybody is practically giving away their cars, I get ads from Toyota, Honda, Hyundai with all kinds of crazy incentives. Everyone is hurting from Tesla's price cuts, ICE and EV alike. The chickens have come home to roost!

I just wanted to add one more thing to my last post. Just because an automaker builds an EV doesn't mean it's going to be a good one people want. Building a car is hard. Building a good car is even harder. There are good car companies that build bad EV's that nobody wants, which I won't name. Just like there are a lot of non EV's nobody wants, there are EV's on the market that nobody wants

OK, rant over

Please name 1 successful EV model in the US besides Model 3 and Y.
Tesla was a market maker and have the best EV product and infrastructure.

The other brands - ICE and new EV startups - will lose BILLIONS of dollars before turning any profit, if they make it that far.

To assume, that a no-name brand like Lotus will be selling $100k plus SUVs in any meaningful volume is just plain delusional.

I saw the new Escalade EV at US Open and GM really invested a whole bunch of $$$ into it and marketing the brand. They are planning to sell it for $175k and up. Good luck with that. But at least they will get all the government funding they need to keep going.

Tesla will continue to go up in sales especially once the CyberTruck and then Model 2 are out. Then you will have some other players fighting for the leftovers.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 and 6, selling like crazy and increasing their numbers quarter by quarter. BMW i4, numbers have been increasing quarter by quarter. Mercedes EQS/EQE. Sales have more than doubled. I can post the data for you, more than you've done except state your opinions, which are based on...your opinions.

Even if Tesla was the only game in town and everyone else sold 0 EV's, the numbers they sell prove that EV's are in huge demand. Please prove me wrong with some data. Opinions are fine, but they are just that...opinions

Ionic 5 may be doing Ok as i have seen lots of them around. Ionic 6 is complete fail.

BMW can’t give away the i4 or iX. Their sales are up as dealers are forced to buy them and use as loaner cars. All the 4series GranCoupes i have seen on the road are ICE versions.

Go to any MB dealer and see their inventory of Eqe and Eqs. They are having fire sales on them and styling doesn’t help. Also ton are being sold as fleet sales vs retail sales.

EVs are not going away - they are a growing segment of overall auto sales and will continue to increase in the future. Hopefully there will be an automaker that can make an EV with normal styling and traditional interior that sells for less than ICE version while delivering over 300 mile range. I think BMW was close with i4 as I really liked it.

You keep saying that, but the numbers prove you wrong. Prove me wrong. SHOW ME THE MONEY!!!!!

And I agree, I'm not a fan of the EQS/EQE styling, but others apparently like it, enough where the sales number keep going up

"Their sales are up as dealers are forced to buy them and use as loaner cars"
Source please (my sales manager told me is not an acceptable answer) I just have to add this comment: what a way to spin LoL! A for effort!!

"All the 4series GranCoupes i have seen on the road are ICE versions"
Anecdotal evidence. I see lots of i4's and iX on the road every single day, that doesn't mean anything

"Go to any MB dealer and see their inventory of Eqe and Eqs. They are having fire sales on them and styling doesn’t help"
I just checked my local MB dealerships, and other than offering $7500 on leases, there are no incentives for buying. Also there are only 10 available in my area, all are EQB's
