Default new EV world record, 0-60 in 0.9 seconds!

https://ethz.ch/en/news-and-events/e...6-seconds.html

it only took 40 feet to do 0-60, aka the length of your average coach bus lol... much like the chaparral 2J or the brabham BT46 it uses active air suction to achieve downforce without motion

Students from ETH Zurich and Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts have broken the previous world record for acceleration with their hand-built electric racing car, mythen. The vehicle accelerated from zero to 100 km/h in 0.956 seconds over a distance of 12.3 metres.

Its a great feat no doubt. I think their time is better served in maximizing range while minimizing charging time.

Nearly 11Gs of accelerative force, just mind-boggling (or scrambling, as it were).

crazy g forces haha... for comparison this is dragy data from the kingda ka rollercoaster that does 0-120 in like 4 sec

i've been on this several times and it's the most impressive acceleration i've ever felt, and this almost makes that seem slow!

yea but there's much bigger companies already working on that... these are just some kids with a fun project they're passionate about

also i imagine the sub 1 sec 0-60 (0-100) was a goal of theirs for some time now, and now that it's been broken maybe that will be the new focus

I'm an adrenaline junkie but I don't think my early 30s body would enjoy that rate of acceleration. That's nuts.

Its all just software.
EV acceleration is like dunking a basketball in a video game.

Model S can do it in 2sec, im sure next one can do it in 1.5sec.

At a certain point, these numbers are just not that important. Anything under 4 seconds is really fast.

yes, and hardware... aka what all cars have been for decades lol

not sure how that's meant to be a critique, but believe me i'm also in the EVs are generally bland and monotonous boat here

if the nhra replaced top fuel with top charge it would be a very suboptimal decision lol

I'm guess 4 seconds on a highly prepped surface with launch control and warmed up tires is as good as it gets, so why not stop there 😂

This thing has effective power to weight ratio of over 2000 bhp per ton and Gordon Murray style ground effects from a vacuum fan!

So I think their free time, which it seems was the time they used to create this awesome machine, was perfectly well served just the way spent it!

I didn’t say it’s as good as it gets but its all trivial.
Its computer driving you not the other way around.

Go launch a manual car to 0-60 if you want to prove something. Like i said, everyone can dunk like MJ in a computer game.
