LOL those 80's - 2000 ES look exactly the same as Camry ones on the outside, just swap out the front grill and remove side molding and here is your Lexus LOL easy job for the "design" department, playing card solitaire all year long and when it time comes, open paint and replace grill and emblems boom new year car... I guess hahaha

I drove my step-fathers 2019 Accord EX V6 the other day. One word - Nope.

It's not a bad car. And it reminded me how much I miss the high-strung Honda J-series V6 that I had in my TL's. But the fit and finish, ride quality and noise were inferior. I've been spoiled by the ES and can't go back.

I could definitely see myself interested in a Type-S TLX in the future. But I haven't test driven one and have been out of the Acura scene for a while so it would still be up in the air.
Hondas seem to be noisy - not sure if it's the tires or just the sound insulation. My wife drove a CRV for about six months before we realized the huge mistake. Traded it quickly.

Just the messenger. Toyota has their work cut out for the next gen. They did a fine job but need to improve with more safety and tech.
10 out of 10 people here who can afford annAccord chose the ES instead. Just the messenger.

The problem with comparing specs between a vehicle like the Accord vs ES is that on paper, the Accord seems to be a clear winner (for the price). The more difficult, yet very important aspects such as road noise, suspension comfort, fit and finish, rattles, engine noise, etc. are rarely measured in a quantitative manner that can be fairly compared.

Going back to my step-fathers Accord - he cross shopped with a few other vehicles including the Kia Optima and Hyundai Sonata. He said the Optima sounded like a tin can, both the doors closing and engine noise during heavy acceleration. And that the Sonata was very clunky and seemed to have a cheap interior (that's his feedback, not mine). But the Accord was very well put together, felt much more solid and had a smoother acceleration curve (love that Honda J-series....). So he went that route even though the Accord was more expensive. On paper, the Kia and Hyundai offered the same for a lower price but the subjective things are hard to measure.

The 2023 Accord's Side Impact 2.0 results just came in. It received a "Good" rating in this new extremely demanding side test, and got a rockstar structure rating of -23.5 which is absolutely outstanding for this class/size/weight of car in this very powerful test. Now there's something to measure.

You cannot compare yesterday's Accord to today's. Honda is building rockstar cars today, particularly newest gen models for 22/23+.

And this is coming from the biggest criticiser of Honda for the past 10-15 years (check my posts). i believe honda is back.

New C-Class (new generation 2023+) results in as well. C-Class did great too--but check it: Accord has a stronger body in side crashes than the C-Class. Well done!

Sooner than trading for a Tesla.

Sorry did not mean to offend. It's just a comparison due to being a large/midsize four door sedan with 40+ mpg and similar/same interior and exterior dimensions. Also a safety comparison. New-gen car=superior safety usually.

Also since someone remarked, update: 2,600+ miles on the Tesla. What a dream ride. Always always looking for excuses to drive it.

Unlike the ES, no need to take apart the interior to insulate rattles, tape stuff, fix panel gaps, clear coat bubbling, crooked hood, crooked seats, crooked dash, momentary power loss in intersections (3x).

i'm not sure if i posted before but here ya go. 3 out of 4 doors corrected for +2mm shut gaps.

I was told legroom and crash test results were the most important. Traded my 300h for a U-Haul truck.

UHaul truck is actually very unsafe as it's basically the front cab of a ford F250/350 with added 10,000 lbs on the back. 50,000 lbs of furniture on top of it would end up smushing an already unsafe cab that's alone with no weight on it lol.
