2023 order update
If you don't have a mutually signed buyer's order along with a build sheet when providing your deposit, that could be a red flag. Based on the info. you've given, there is no guarantee that the car will be yours when it arrives. It's not uncommon to not have an assigned VIN yet as it's likely not been assigned to the dealer, especially based on the scarcity of info you've been given. In the north american market there is no special ordering due to market conditions, so most are waiting on allocations to be assigned and then attaching deposits to those vehicles. It may be different where you are but I would want more certainty. Once an allocation to the dealer is made I would ensure I had an OTD selling price negotiated. This is excluding any incentives or knowing the exact financing arrangements, which won't happen until you actually take delivery. Incentive and financing programs can and do vary monthly.
If your gut is telling you something isn't right, I'd go with that. Get some answers or ask for your deposit back.

The likely culprit is due to a Mark Levinson audio chip shortage. ML sound isn't a standard feature on any model or trim. So unless specially ordered which Lexus is still not accepting, most Luxury and Ultra Luxury trims will likely include ML sound as part of that dealers auto template for their Lux's and Ult. Lux. builds. Due to that reason you will likely not see many if any for a while.
