Thumbs up Heads up Display

Good evening members! My first Lexus and couldn't be happier. Just purchased a 2019 ES300H, Matador Red. I am curious if you can add the Heads Up Display after production? Secondly, does anyone have any recommendation on cleaning the black areas between the front and rear doors of prints? I am sure I will have additional questions as I am still figuring out what she can do.

I think it'd be a huge job since the entire top of the dashboard would have to be replaced and who knows what circuity is needed to get the data to the image projector.

As for the black B pillar maintenance, I just use a damp cloth and don't rub too hard. It is vulnerable to scratches. A squirt of ammonia-free Windex for stubborn grime.

Shame I can't just take it out of my car and hand it to you. I used it once, the night I picked up my car, then turned it off for the last 3 years... I find it very distracting at night.
Agree with Lee, probably very expensive to install in a non HUD car... Regarding the "B" pillars, just read an article that WD-40 cleans and protects the black painted finish.

Apparently the windshield glass is different as well, tapered laminate to avoid a double image.

microfiber and detailing spray. just as you'd clean any other painted surface of the car. of course start with a clean car or you'll scratch it.

You either love it or hate it. I HATE it. The most distracting thing I've ever had on any car.

I hate the HUD on the ES. It’s blurry/double vision slightly. Our RX450h it is crystal clear. I had the dealership replace it as well because they agreed it wasn’t great but it looks the same after replacement this is on my 2021 ES300h UL

Mine is clear and I still hate it. Perhaps there is an issue with your windshield and not the HUD unit itself.

yeah been wondering about that. I was going to ask to see another ES with HUD to confirm if mine is indeed still off or if The RX is really that much better/different

As I previously stated, I don't use mine at all. However I just went out to check it (after 3 years of non use) and it is perfectly clear. One thing though, I am fastidious with the cleanliness of the windscreen glass. Maybe that's your issue... GOOD LUCK!

Don't mean to hijack the thread but what do you use for cleaning the glass?

This is the process I use and I have never had cleaner glass that lasts.
