panoramic sunroof?
i know that the panoramic sunroof isn't as common as the regular sunroof but is there something about the panoramic sunroof that is problematic? what were your reasons for ordering an es with the regular sunroof and not the panoramic? for those that have the panoramic what are your likes and dislikes about having one? thanks in advanced!
When ordering or buying a new Lexus, one doesn't have a choice whether "regular" sun roof or Panoramic depending upon the model chosen. I wanted a Ultra Lux Lexus ES350 and, if possible, would have bought one without ANY sun roof. However, you can't get an UL Lexus without a pano roof. I don't open the sun roof on my car and in fact mine has been opened once when I got the car about a year and a half ago to make sure it worked. Lexus makes you take the pano roof to bump up the price which is exorbitant. As far as problems or issues, I don't recall any brought forward on this forum. Maybe some other members will post and let you know.
I got the panoramic roof from the ES350 I bought from inventory and it came with the panoramic roof. I never open the glass or the vent on roof but its nice to draw back the cover and have an all glass roof, especially at night.
Only one of my last 5 cars had a "power something roof" as an option. If you're forced to get one, it should be opened and closed every so-often to keep the tracks and seals in good condition.
The '20 NX F Sport we just got had the power roof as an option, but the car was already alive, so we didn't have a choice of not ordering it.

There was an issue a few years ago that Consumer Reports documented about some spontaneous breakage on these panoramic roofs:

Not Toyota/Lexus specific, but interesting anyhow.

Love mine! Like others it came with my Ultra Luxury package but I have no complaints. The issues they had with them in the past were not brand specific and happened to all makes models. Hopefully they figured it out.
I would have preferred a moonroof, but I would have had to get a base model instead of a Luxury. I actually use it in the warm weather. Also, it's a quick way to cool off a hot car. I usually can't be bothered with the remote start for that.
I think the biggest drawback of the panoramic roof is the added weight. I had a 2020 base model ES for a loaner a couple of weeks ago. I could swear it was a little peppier and more agile around corners.

i'd like to thank everyone for their replies so far. tech nut, the lexus website will let you add the option of a panoramic sunroof to the luxury model for an additional $500 but i'm not sure how many dealerships order any from the factory without a customer requesting it.

I can say this with 100% certainty. A 22 UL special order and even an allocated UL could have a regular moonroof. The pano. Is considered an option. To the tune of $1000+. My 22 350 UL special order has a regular moonroof because that’s how I ordered it. That wasn’t possible on my 2019 but again that changed in later years. Now, it’s much more likely that regularly allocated vehicles, with luxury or ultra luxury packages, are nine times out of 10 gonna have pano. roofs because that combo sells better. Considering that Lexus nationally has all special orders on hold, you get whatever they build. Period!
Hi Americans, just FYI:
In Europe, Lexus only sells the ES 300h. All models/packages come with a power sunroof. The panoramic roof is not available at all, not even as an option. We have nothing to choose when it comes to drive train or roof.

the pano roof option was required on select trims during the 2019 model year. That changed In later years, but I can’t remember which year it became an option.

You cannot get the pano sunroof nowhere with the hybrid drivetrain.
