Default 2020 Touchscreen

Does anyone know if the 2020 will have a touch screen. According to specs; yes. I called 2 dealers in Canada and they said; no.

What spec. sheet are you seeing showing a touch screen? I see Touch Pad on the Lexus ES350 specification page but nothing about a touch screen. As far as I know (and others can verify), the screen and input are the same as the 2019's (no touch screen).

They moved to a touch screen in the RX but I don't think the same is true for the ES.

Unless the entire dashboard and screen location has been changed, there can't be a (usable) touch screen because the screen location for the display screen on the 2019 ES places the screen too far from the driver to be useful and safe. With the addition of a touch screen on the 2020 RX, the screen position was moved closer to the driver. I can't imagine that a touch screen option would be added to the ES until/unless the screen position was similarly moved closer to the driver.

Here’s a screen shot from the specs the other screen shot was from the options. The 2019 specs don’t say touch screen. I agree with you about the location of the screen. Doesn’t look like it has changed so it wouldn’t make sense but this is what the specs say.

I don't think you will see a touch screen in the ES until the next refresh occurs whenever that is scheduled for.

Just for kicks, I went to the Lexus.ca (Canada) site and it does indeed list 8" and 12.3" touch screens as standard / optional equipment on the various ES models for 2020.

Maybe Canada gets it before the US.

I still think it has to be some sort of misprint/error because most all cars for the US and Canada still come out of the single Kentucky factory and you're going to have to redesign that dash to accommodate a touch screen. That probably won't happen for another 3 years or so.

Why go backwards with a touchscreen - yuck. Maybe they'll replace LEDs with incandescents as well.

How about keeping the LEDS and just going one step back to the mouse-like controller of the prior generation, doing away with the touchpad?

Millennials love touchscreens that's why. I personally don't like them on a vehicle but most car manufacturers are moving to that.

Reading the various specs for 2020 vehicles it is the RX that gets the touch screen - no ES models... But the ES models will get folding outside mirrors... About time...
