I am frustrated holding the wheel and constantly feeling the wheel vibrate and move slightly. I want to lightly hold the wheel but the system doesn’t detect that light touch.
Can prompt my knee against it, which it detects but that uncomfortable and not as safe.
Seriously, don't do it. There is a reason it's steering assist and not autonomous driving. It works well 95% of the time, but the other 5%, glad I was in control. Caught steering assistant in more than one situation not keeping up with a curving road, loss of proper lane tracing and simply hazardous control of the car with cross wind. You're asking for trouble if you are relying on the system.

I'm sure you can turn off the vibration on the wheel and there are plenty of videos on how to do this on Youtube. Anything with a bit of weight should do the trick. As others have mentioned, use great caution since the system is far from perfect and can be deadly.
2nd to this. On the other hand, I turned off mine because it's becoming to be a safety concern rather than safety. There are times that the car autosteers itself to the wrong lane that I couldn't even correct it myself, that I had to apply more force to the wheel to steer it back to where I want it.
Happens to my 18 highlander, too but the one on the IS seems to have its own mind.
