I have the 2K version of this in my ES. Has anyone tried the 4K one? I would like the higher resolution if it does a better job of seeing the License plate numbers.
Received the Dashcam in the mail today and got it installed.
Pretty straightforward, the hardest part was removing the small fill-in cover plate on the new cam assembly, had a tab that wasn't cooperating, struggled with it for a while of concern it might break off.
Package Box Contents Showing the Dashcam unit Removed cover at windshield. Best to swivel the mirror 90 degrees in a vertical position to better access the cover plate and wiring. Passenger side view accessing the wire terminal connection. Making the harness connection at the windshield. I found it beneficial to make the wiring connection at the windshield first vs at the cover plate with the dashcam. Makes placing the wire harness and then snapping in place the cover a whole lot easier, then having to tuck the wiring afterwards. Wiring harness tucked into in placed. I kept the wiring toward the right side in the voided areas. View of the unit above the mirror before snapping the cover plate in place. Driver view of install unit. Final cover in place, showing what little obstructed view there is...... initial install completed!
Next is to get the unit connected and activated. I'll return with my assessment. So far liking the OEM look!

I'm assuming the install is exactly the same as the 2K version. Looking forward to your videos. It also looks like this camera may have better low light visibility.
Does anyone know if this a capacitor camera? I have tried a few dashcam over the years but I kept coming back to VIOFO A119 for all my fleet for quite sometimes now . VIOFO A119 is on v3 so it is even better now. For the price point it is hard to beat as it is very reliable, packed with features and discreet. However FITCAMX is the most oem appearance wise but I am concern about video quality and long term reliability. I wonder if FITCAMX checks memory card on each start up and let user knows if it is bad. Memory card can fail abruptly as it works under extreme temperatures and constant recordings wear it down faster.

With this setup, the dashcam always on? even when you cut power and camera still ON? Looking forward to see some sample footages on daytime and at night.

If its like the 2K version its tied to the ignition. switch.
I like my 2k Fitcam. "upgrading" to 4k seems a bit pointless. 2k is good enough. The point isn't necessarily to read plates, but to show events or prove blame generally.
Install is such a breeze, you'll be delighted to know no guide is necessary, but thanks to the person above who made one anyway. (a compliment to the camera maker)
Now if only we can get a solution for the rear... i'm still interested in finding 12V access in the rear. and even then it won't look clean. if only some module could tap into the rear backup camera and save video off that.
Is there an easy visual indicator or other method letting you that the recording is working? With the VIOFO there are a couple of quick ways to know if everything is okay:
1) blinking red dot on led screen letting you know it is recording
2) audio beeps if camera encounters issues with memory card, etc.
Yeah a blue light flashes to let you know it's recording. but it's bright at night, the inside lights up bright blue. so i covered it in tape. my plan eventually is to take a sharpie to it and color it in until the amount of light that comes out is acceptable.

it's like no one tested it..
The blue indicator light is not as bright nor intrusive on my unit.
