Default seeking wiper de-icer info

I have a 2024 Es 350 UL . Noticed in my Owners Manual on page 259 I might have the wiper de-ice option. So, toggled it on but don't know if it comes on due to outside temp or another switch has to be on.I know it turns off in 15 min . auto.I live in Indiana so would be a nice feature.

You have to access that feature through the screen. Select the Menu, then 'drill down' through the "Climate" menu. It's a bit of a pain to get through but is effective once you find it. It will be explained in your owner manual index...look for "Windshield Wiper Deicer".

Thanks, but did all that when I toggled switch on in settings . It also said not to touch lower part of windshield due to high heat, could get burn. Did notice the wires imbeded in windshield under wipers. Still don't know if its activated by outside temp ?

No, it is only turned on by the “soft switch” built in to the screen. The warning about burning yourself is probably something the lawyers had them put in…I’ve never felt it particularly hot. Example: have you ever felt the rear window when you turned that defroster on? It’s a big chunk of glass so difficult to get really hot with the rest of it exposed to outdoor air. And…too much heat in only one spot (the bottom) would potentially lead to cracked glass. It is not intended to be a defroster but only provide enough warmth to “unstick” frozen wiper blades.

So ,the switch is toggled on ,but does that mean I have to toggle it off during summer?

No…it will turn off by itself in 10, 15 minutes and not come back on until you tell it to. It is controlled by the timer, not temperature.

You turn it on via the screen just like you did before.

What a royal pain. A shame it couldn't be turned on by a voice command.

Or better yet, a dedicated button like the one in my wife’s ‘13 RAV!
