I was doing the dashcam install and taken the A-pillar out to fish the wire so that it doesn't interfere with the airbags..
I couldn't figure out what the purpose of this pink hose looking thing..
As I was typing this.. I just remembered I have a sun roof. Is this the drain hose for the sun roof?
Thanks for confirming.
How do you flush that out?
I just mixed warm water with soap and put 500mL water each side to see if it will drain from 4 sides.
I can see the same amount of water drained which is good.
The last thing I want is to have a clogged drain hose!
You should test them all the time, for example every year if the water drain through them or not.
In your country I’m afraid you will find a lot of sand in there.
I went for 13 years in my 2011 ES without ever cleaning the four drain hoses, and I never had a clog/leak, even though the vehicle was parked outside its entire life! My saving grace is there are no trees around where we normally park. Also, I'm a stickler for keeping my cars clean. On the other hand, if one parks under trees a lot and doesn't keep their car clean, they should be testing their roof drains periodically. If you wait until they clog before cleaning your drains, it could be too late and you'll be plagued with mold and electrical issues from the water damage.
BTW...don't ever use compressed air to blow out clogged drains. It can dislodge the drain tube, resulting in a massive leak.
Too, remember the drains work year-round, and when the roof is closed. The sliding roof is not designed to keep water out. Think of it as a controlled leak!
