Is there a way to take this off and kinda hammer it gently to where its not dented anymore? If not what's the cheapest way to fix this? I know its small but it just bothers me. I called Lexus and they said it was a $400 part (this is the back driver side window trim on top).
Took it to a hand wash car wash and then came home to see it dented. Kinda crazy.
How did they put that dent in the chrome piece hand washing the car? Did the machines put the dent on the chrome piece while your car was going through the automatic car wash?
Honestly I'd just replace the part if I was you. It will be hard to get that dent out to look perfect again. Besides it's a basically brand new car (2022), don't want to look at it dented or poorly repaired for years to come...
You could consider trying to find a used piece of trim from a junkyard any 2019-2022 piece should fit.
I would just spend the $400 for a brand new chrome piece and whatever it costs for the Lexus dealership to replace it and forget about it. That’s a $50,000 car that you own. I would fix and replace it the right way. Also, don’t take your car to a car wash ever again. This is what happens when you take a nice car to the car wash. I would rather wash the car by hand.
Remove the trim and them put it on a towel upside down and try to press it hard with your fingers.
given the size, shape, width if the metal, i'm guessing i'll take some kind of tool and light hammering. that dent is going to be stiff for a finger. unless you eat a LOT of spinach. a PDR guy would knock that out in 30 seconds.
Removal is NOT easy though. There are 6 rivets holding it which you would have to drill out and then reinstall the rivets. You need to be extremely careful when drilling them or you'll drill right through the door frame.
