Hello everyone! I will be receiving my new 2022 ES 300h at the end of this month.

I know it requires a wire to access ACP (Apple Car Play), and that's something I'm not too fond of, especially with how the front USB cutouts are built on the new ES. I was looking around this forum and saw that there were 3 prominent modules that people use.

Does anyone have any experience with these? Any pictures to go along with it would also help, thanks!

 

Aren't there a bunch of threads on this already? I have the Carlinkit 2.0 it works fine in my '18 LS.

 

Ah, I just wasn’t sure if it applied to all models. I saw some people say some were better than the other (from their end), so I just wanted to know if anyone had a good one on their ES. Thanks for the reply! Sounds like they all work the same though.

I have two of the Carlinkit 3.0 and have had zero trouble or issues. One in my 2022 ES350 and one in my wife’s 2021 IS300 and they only cost $90 on Amazon with the coupon that’s always running.

 

Thank you to everyone for the responses - I have decided to go with the Ottocast U2-Air. They're all around the same price, and since the Ottocast is more popular, I thought I would try this one out.

 

Sure, but the available releases increases all the time. What was the go to device 2 years ago is not the case now.

 

From what I gather, they all take around 40 seconds or more to connect, so this can be frustrating in the mornings or when you get back into your car after re-fueling and you want to listen to music. Great for navigation of course. But poopie for audio quality.

If somehow I can disassociate music streaming with the wireless ACP device but keep ONLY navigation stuff, I would do it. but i think there's no way and music is forced to stream through the device. if so the quality is extremely poopie.

i wanted it to work i really did but i tossed my wireless acp device on the ground and some spider has made it its home.

 

That sure sounds frustrating, I enjoy listening to music as soon as I get into the car. Well, I did order the Ottocast u2-air, and while I wait for my delivery on my car and the device, time will tell whether the wire bothers me more or the 40 second delay.

Do you know the sound quality is different as well?

 

I haven't tried anything other than the Car2iPlay or whatever it's called. But I read others post about the other two and generally I've read about the 40 second delay or so. I have a feeling they're all the same stuff from China with various names.

 

I may get the Motorola Ma1 unit if I can find one. Works only for Android Auto. Have heard good things about it.

 

Looks pretty sleek! Let us know how it goes, and maybe in the future, they can release one for ACP too.

 

Haven't gotten one, sold out everywhere and markups where it's available second hand. Closest I found was $99, and think I'll pull the trigger, once I get my car.

 

The Carlin Kit 3.0 has a boot time of 22 seconds. These devices also use the Wi-Fi signal to stream the music so the quality is much better than streamed on Bluetooth. By the time the Lexus system is booted up CarPlay starts in about 5 seconds.

 

Decided to get the Ottocast Air, the delay at start isn’t an issue since I’m always mapping my routes and looking for a song to put on anyways. It’s been flawless, I just keep it in the little pocket where your phone would be next to the USBs.
