Modification to ES250 AWD
sorry if this is already answered but thought of taking opioid on below.
1. My ES250 AWD has 18” rim and tires. Thinking to upgrading to 20” and tires, is this really possible and has anyone done this upgrade? Any tentative cost?
2. Wanting to know if I can have kick sensor or button installed to close ES trunk (so funny that my base model with all the packages installed doesn’t give me this feature). Has anyone got this done and what’s the cost of possible.
3. Has anyone got back power coating done to ES rims?
4. I can see little shades on my new ES240 headlight and it’s appearing from inside, attaching picture. Wondering if anyone knows if this is an issue that I should ask Lexus to replace?
thanks and appreciate your response

1. Your car doesn't care what size rims/wheels that you put on but your butt does. The bigger the wheel, the shorter that sidewall of the tire and the bumpier/harsher the ride will be because the bigger sidewall of the tire isn't there to help cushion the ride. As long as you pick a wheel and tire setup that is the same height as the stock one, you should have no problems with the computer or traction control systems. It's not really possible to give you cost because it can vary according to what tires and wheels that you choose. You could get some stock take-offs that someone had lying around for cheap ($1000 or less or so with tires and just using that as an example) or get some custom made carbon fiber ones ($10-15k EACH wheel). I'm just using those as examples because pricing would be anywhere in between the two.
2. Sorry, I don't have a clue.
3. This is just a suggestion, but try your luck with a product called Plastidip on the wheels. It sprays on easily (as long as you follow the proper techniques and also make sure that the wheels are both clean and dry). The benefits are that you can see what they look like black and it comes off easily if you don't like it or decide to get it powdercoated.
4. Once again, Sorry for no answer but I'd contact the service department and see what they say about it since they would be the ones footing the bill (of still under warranty).
Good Luck!
