Default Used oil analysis

This is the oil analysis from my 2021 ES 300h. This is the factory fill oil that came with the car and ran for 10,188 miles from February to August. 90% of the miles are city driven. I will do another UOA at the next oil change. Oil that went in was whatever the dealer put in as it was a free service. If anyone has a question interpreting the data or a general question please ask!

Overall it's a good report. The only real wear part is iron and for it to be at 26 is very good for the factory fill oil. Usually it would be in the 50s or more but half the OCI. They hybrid might have helped this number to be lower.
Copper is not really a wear item number but could be leaching from the oil cooler so will have to keep an eye on that.
I have never seen a silicon(dirt) level so high but with new cars silicon is usually very high. Will have to trend this with subsequent UOAs.
Other than that the rest is fantastic.

For those that are interested in their oil analysis there is a very long - and contentious - thread from a couple of years ago on the gen 6 forum... Very long...

I'm a fan of used oil analysis as a diagnostic tool. Glad you started this thread.

As many here undoubtedly know, the BITOG site is the worldwide headquarters for people who are really fanatical about this stuff. While it can be overdone, the site authors have very informative permanent articles up about how to read the results of an oil analysis.

Side question: Is 10,000 miles the recommended change interval for the first fill of oil on the hybrid? I've only dealt with a decade-old Prius, and it had a 10,000 mile interval (5,000 for "severe service"), but started to use oil in its old age when treated that way.

LexWannabe, all Lexus models, hybrid or not are usually 10000 oil change intervals now. Maybe the LFA is different though.

I have come to the realization that doing an early spill and fill or keeping it for the whole duration doesn't change much so I just leave it in. Plus I am getting old and less oil changes the better )

There is no fuel dilution % but the TBN is 3.0. So the oil was still suitable for use as 1.0 is the condemnation point for any oil.

I would love to see that value too! I just look at the viscosity and if its stays within the grade then I just assume that there is not much fuel dilution.

I'd still recommend a break-in service at 1,200 miles or less. It's cheap insurance.

Then every 5k after that. Hybrid engines see extra abuse since they don't warm up due to constantly restarting.

My wife's 2014 RAV4 has been on 10k oil change schedule since day one and now it has 130k miles on the odometer and no sign of oil consumption. modern oil and engines have come a long way so this 1,200 miles oil change is excessive and wasteful. smart money is on following the manufacturer's maintenance schedule.
Now the new gf6 oil is even better.

Default 2nd UOA

The oil was dealer bulk oil. New oil is Royal Purple XPR. 4 quarts 0w20 and 1 quart 0w10. Oil filter is Toyota 90915-YZZF2.
