Why No Light Blue?
Watching the current Lexus ES TV ad and the ES looks light blue to my eyes. I like it a lot. However, light blue is not a color option for the 2022 ES. So my thought is, why not?
I personally think the ES color palette as a whole is severely lacking compared to both the Germans and Genesis, both outside and inside. Both have some beautiful medium blues. Check out in particular some of the paint colors available on the G80.
I traded a metallic blue Avalon for my first Lexus. The money they offered me for the car, I thought was too low. I complained to the sales person and he stated that the color blue was not a sought after color. It was to me and that's why I bought the blue Avalon in the first place. I can't remember when I saw a light blue car of any make. Could have been a 1959 Ford Galaxy... Apparently blue is not a favorite of those making the paint decisions at Lexus...

Genesis has a Polar Ice and Siberian Ice which are super attractive and unique colors. Me - I still usually end up with white cars - they still look the best to me.
I do like the pastel gray looking colors of the new BMW 5 series and their other models. The ES would look so good in a flat (glossy) color. I think cars these days put too much emphasis on metallic and sparkles. the ES or any lexus that I know of doesn't even have like a jet black.
all we get are a brown looking sparkly color they call black.

In any event, the light blue that I envision for the ES is a lot lighter than the Avalon blue and much softer and more metallic, too. If you look at the current ES TV ad you might see what I'm talking about. Apparently, Lexus likes the look of the ES in that color, since that's what their ad shows even though it's a lighting effect rather than a true color.

Twenty five years ago, colors like silver, black, white, and gray were very popular, and that is especially true for luxury cars. That was the case 10 or 15 years ago. It is is the case today, and it will be the case 10 years from now.
Other colors, like blues and more exotic colors, tend to be popular for a few years. But, then, their popularity fades, and so does their re-sale value.
While the trade-in value of a blue Avalon might only be less than $100 smaller than that of a black or silver Avalon, if you are trying to sell the car yourself, it can take much longer to find a buyer who wants that blue car than it might take for a car of another color. And, again, that will be especially true with luxury brand cars.
