Default Android Auto Infotainment Update

Hi Guys.

I was browsing online and found an article that said Android Auto is available as a retrofit for 2019+ ES models https://ausdroid.net/2019/11/09/leux...pples-carplay/

I called my local dealer in Plano, TX and they confirmed that this is true. They have to verify based on VIN. If your VIN qualifies for what they call the "dynamic update", the cost for the update is $249.
If your VIN does not qualify, they can order a module to retrofit Android Auto for $1900!

absolutely BS, it should be free.

There is a batch of 2019 ES that manufactured before Oct of 2018 that doesn’t even have CarPlay, can they be added and for how much? $5000 LOL

$5k? ouch. I narrowed down my shopping list to the 2019 ES but it was the CarPlay that sealed the deal for me. Without that feature it would be a deal breaker for me when I was shopping for used one in mid 2020.

The 3 year old message is from Australia and for Lexus cars sold in Australia. This whole subject has been covered in an extensive thread previously. There is no Android update available for U.S. 2019 Lexus ES models produced without Android Auto... And apparently none coming either...

Can you please provide more details from your dealer about what they mean? This is the first time I've heard a North American dealer saying this is possible.

That's all the details I have. They said the work could take an hour.

I'm wondering if this is aftermarket equipment. Especially the offer for $1900.00...

Who is the dealer and what's their phone number? Also, do you know who you talked to?

The dealer is Park Place Lexus in Plano. I spoke with the Parts Department but I didn't get the guy's name.
