Default Should I upgrade?

Hi all,

I have a 2019 es f sport with 9k miles on it. I got offered $39,200 to sell it and I have roughly $46k in the car. My cousin is a finance director at one of the dealerships so I get the best possible deal.

I can sell this one and get into 2022 model (f sport package) for roughly 10k more OTD which includes paint protection film. Is it worth the upgrade?

I know 2022 models are not out yet and pricing isn’t, but he gave me a ball park figure. Thoughts?

I can make a financial argument that you'd be better off keeping the $10,000. I can make a user satisfaction argument that the upgrade to touchscreen infotainment is worth it on that basis alone. (The paint protection film isn't even a factor in my thinking—you could buy that from anybody for any car.)

The right answer is: It's worth the money if it's worth it in your opinion.

I would also test out the touchscreen in a 2022 before pulling the trigger. I have a 2020 ES F sport and it’s in for service. My loaner is a 2021 RX350 with the touchscreen and I’ve hardly used that functionality. They moved the screen a lot closer but it’s still a hair far for me to find it super useful to touch in most situations.

Same darn car. If a touchscreen is worth $10k to you, go for it and pray fingerprints dont bother you😁

I have to agree. We recently added a 2021 RX to our garage, and I agree that the touchscreen still requires a bit of a lean forward to reach. I don't have to reposition to use the touch pad. The touchscreen does have a bit of anti-glare coating that helps reduce the fingerprints - but not entirely. If you wait until you can test the 2022 though, you may find that the offer is lower. I'm not sure I would necessarily wait. Go look at an RX display as they will very likely be similar - if not identical. And I agree with other statements here, if it is worth it to you and you can afford it, then go for it.

The BASIC car is the same but he would gain power mirrors, Android Auto, touch screen, improved headlights and whatever other changes come with the 2022 model. I guess it just depends on what's important to him!

True - seems like that is all worth $10K Heck - how much dough did JB burn on that ten minute Blue Origins flight earlier today

I find the touchscreen in our RX450h f sport useful only while in the passenger seat (maybe because I am right handed and can't use the touch pad well when in passenger seat). My vote is it is not worth the upgrade, but happiness comes in different forms for everyone. You can really only answer this question
