Splash Guards Yes or No?
Got my new 2021 350 ES couple of weeks ago. Before delivery, I asked the salesman to have a set of four splash guards on the car for appearance purposes. He said he checked and that splash guards aren’t made for this model.
He appears to be correct but there are nice aftermarket sets. However, the You Tube installation videos talk about having to take rear wheels off before installation of the splash guards and I’m concerned I’m forcing something on the car that shouldn’t be there and I may cause adverse unintended consequences I can’t even imagine (I am not mechanically inclined).
My question is should I go with the splash guards or simply leave well enough alone?

Personal preference. I like them as I am a clean freak and don't like debris and dirt get splashed onto the paint surface. Mud guards does a good job to minimize it. I ordered aftermarket from eBay that was shipped from Hong Kong. Decent quality and looks oem to me. It was easy install without removing the wheels. I can't wrench to save my life. If I can do it then anyone can.
I put mud guards on my 2013 ES 350 and again on my 2019 UL ES which is exactly like your car body wise. They protect the paint and IMO look great. Numerous others have also installed them. I bought mine on Ebay for about $40.00 and they are a perfect fit. It took me about an hour to do all four wheel wells. I did remove the rear wheels to facilitate attaching the guards.
Instead of screws I used Lexus body clips that attach securely. If you're interested in protecting your brand new paint then install them or have your favorite mechanic install them for you. It's an easy job and they are very useful. They interfere with nothing and look good. And BTW I also installed them on my wife's Honda...
Check out my previous post regarding the install.

Thanks, everyone. I’ll talk to my mechanic buddy and make sure the set I order will not cause any problems before he pops them on. I had a Volvo EOM set installed on wife’s new Volvo when we took delivery of her S60 at the plant in Gothenburg. They look nice on her Volvo and have served her well.
That is funny. When I asked my dealer about splash guards two years ago, he replied "do you really want those on a Lexus"? The ES doesn't kick up much dirt any way for whatever reason.

I bought the set you see for sale on eBay and Amazon that ship out of China. Pretty happy with them and they're easy to put on in your driveway. It does extend fairly far up the back of the wheel well edge. It will be noticeable if you don't have a dark-colored car.
Watch out if you back in a lot or if you hand over keys to valets frequently. I have a crack in one of mine from where someone backed the car into a tall curb when backing in and it hit the flap that sits lower than the body. Hard to see unless you're almost under the car though.

Before my 2021 350 ES car was delivered, I asked them to install a spoiler. It was $200 on the Lexus build site. He charged me $400, saying it was more involved when not put on at the factory. I went along because it was convenient for me and I didn’t want to be bothered getting it done after delivery. You’d think they’d do the same kind of thing with the splash guards. Go figure.
