Proud owner of a new 2019 ES 350 premium! Took a drive today to a state park and used Apple maps to guide me. I was listening to music on my iPhone and noticed that it wasn't muted when Apple maps gave directions. It is muted on my Passat so I'm hoping there is a setting on the ES media system that I've missed. Any help? Thx

 

If you're on iOS 13 there is a symbol of a speaker within the maps app when connected to Carplay that will mute the voice navigation. I used the maps app over the weekend and was really impressed with how much it has improved. Now it will display intersections with traffic lights and stop signs.

The navigation volume can't be changed. Many have tried and all have failed. It's either on or off those are your only options.

 

Yep, crappy implementation from Lexus. I rent a lot of cars on business trips and the Lexus is the only car that does this (or doesn't, depending on your POV).

 

Are you saying that the navigation voice cannot be increased or decreased?

 

That's correct, whether the volume is at 0 or max the navigation voice is set to let's say 25.

Carplay navigation guidance

 

The Lexus link is for the internal Nav system and the Carplay link is good but the problem is that the background music does not decrease when the nav voice comes on and resume normal volume after Nav instructs cease.

 

I increased the Nav volume to the max setting and the music continues to easily overpower it. Luckily, I don't like the voice prompts and it's always muted.
