Angry Missing GPS coordinate entry for navigation.

Has anyone besides me noticed that we can no longer enter GPS coordinates into the navigation system for GPS guidance? Am I missing something? I've searched the navigation manual cover to cover as well as played with the navigation system. I see nowhere to enter GPS coordinates. Your comments will be appreciated.

You mean like you can't enter a destination? That would make navigation kind of pointless. Do you mean you can only do it by voice? I don't have my ES yet but that would be very strange.

Voice, key it in etc. Voice works flawlessly so Ive never entered coordinates - not sure if it works but also not sure when you would really need to do it that way.

You would use GPS coordinates when your Lexus navigation system does not recognize a street address or a phone number for the given destination. I've navigated using GPS coordinates many times with my 2007 UL Lexus ES350. Also, there are things like monuments or locations that do not have an address; you can find the GPS coordinates for such locations and simply enter those coordinates into the navigation system and drive right up to the destination. As far as I can tell, my 2019 no longer allows navigation by entering GPS coordinates directly.

Dear JimV1983,
There are destinations that do NOT have a street address or a phone number normally used for navigation in a car. In this case, we would look up the destinations GPS coordinates for the destination and use them. Here are the GPS coordinates for the Spahn Ranch: 34.2728° N, 118.6230° W near Chatsworth, CA, (residence of Charles Manson and his cult members for a while). In my 2007 UL Lexus ES350, I could enter those coordinates for that destination directly into my navigation system and navigate to the Spahn Ranch as if I had entered an actual address or phone number. I do NOT see that capability (GPS coordinate entry) in the navigation system of my new 2019 UL Lexus ES350. I hope this clears things up a little.

I wonder if the Destination Assist would accept coordinates you provide?

Yeah, I get what you mean now. When my ES gets delivered in April it will be my first Lexus so I don't really know what previous generations offered. I don't think I've ever seen a car navigation system that allowed that but I haven't seen many. I currently have a 2011 Camry with navigation and it doesn't have that feature either. In the almost 9 years that I've had the car I've never been in a situation where I've needed it. I guess I've just been lucky.

I'm also a bit concerned that you'd want to visit the home of Charles Manson

Well, I finally got the answer to my question: "Can we enter a destination into the GPS navigation system using GPS coordinates." The answer: "NO!, GPS coordinate entry is no longer available in the latest version of the Lexus ES350 navigation systems." I contacted two organizations at Lexus; they didn't know. They referred me to one of the "Technology Specialists" at any one of the dealerships in my area. I contacted four. Only two Technology Specialists had an answer for me, and that, of course was a big fat NO! The best reason they could give me is that people don't use GPS coordinates for Lexus navigation anymore. Hmmmm??

That's OK, when necessary, I'll just use "Google Maps' GPS offline maps system with my cell phone to navigate to any destination that does not have a street address or a phone number. If you too ever find the need to navigate using GPS coordinates there is a rather decent YouTube tutorial at this link:

Try the what3words app(you can also check their website). It was originally built to navigate to places that do not have street addresses.

Long story short: the developer mapped the entire globe into 3x3 meter squares. Every square has an unique address. You can send the location of a square from the app to Google maps for navigation.
