Default Tips for New ES

Im doing research before I purchase an ES model/or really any other Lexus model I haven't narrowed it down yet lol. I've watched several videos, tips , and tricks on what you should do within the first 500, 1,000, 5000, 10,000 miles by car care nut on YouTube. While I have had a Japanese/Korean car before I didn't do a lot of of these tips with my last car. So before I purchased a new car from Lexus, I was wondering if anybody had any tips or tricks to maintaining a hybrid battery powered car. And is there any truth to the changing of the oil within the first 500 or 1000 miles? Any other resources would be helpful! And yes, I know that there is an owners manual but from the research that I have been doing, it seems like you should be changing the oil and other things a little bit sooner than is suggested. Thank you in advance!

The best advice that I can give you is to read all of the Uncomfortable drivers seat threads on this forum. And then when you start looking at cars, and sitting in the drivers seat, you'll be in a better position to judge if you could sit in the seat day after day. I speak for experience as I bought a 2025 ES350-UL last year. The Stiff, Upright angle of the Seat's side Bolsters that pressed against my rear end and thighs was uncomfortable, no matter what I did. I finally had enough and traded the car in about a month ago on a New 2026 Genesis G80 (Which I am loving everything about it).

Yes, do your first oil and filter change anywhere between 500 and 1000 miles, and every 5000.

Thank you for the reply! I have considered it and have read a lot of the threads in this forum about it already. I was very apprehensive about the seating, which is why I was and amconsidering the Lexus UX as well possibly the NX is in the running as well. But I have since sat in the new ES and I can truthfully say it is worlds better than the 2025 model. At least in terms of seating. When I sat in the 2025 for a test drive it was immediately uncomfortable and if it was based on that version I would definitely be getting a different Lexus than that. I did see where you posted the Genesis. I love the look of the Genesis as well and it definitely is a runner-up, but Lexus has been my favorite brand since I was a child so I'm leaning heavily more towards Lexus at this point... plus i love the mpg of Lexus esp now..

Thank you for replying! OK I have that down, do you have any other suggestions? If you know about the car the car care nut would you say that his recommendations are true and good to follow?

One additional comment regarding the seats... Not all members consider the seats to be uncomfortable. I believe that it depends on your height and weight. I'm 5'10" and weigh 170 and the seats for me are perfect. Those that are heavier may find that the side bolsters are too confining. I've never even tried using the thigh extender that came with my car. GOOD LUCK!

I test drove wearing a heavy winter coat cause it was in the teens. Seat back stiffness with lumbar not in the prefect spot is what got me. Fluffy down covered that up. Whoops

Break the engine in properly, and yes TCCN’s advice is good to follow.

OK perfect! I know they say not to drive a certain speed until the engine is broken in properly. Whether that be until 500 miles or 1000 miles but I’m not sure how true that is. I have a spreadsheet of his advice already so I think in that aspect I’m set. Just want this car to last

Actually, this is not true in my case and others. Most of the people that claimed the seats were comfortable were over 200 lbs. I'm 5'8" and 145 lbs. and I barely fit between the Side Bolsters which are only 12-13 inches across. And the side Bolsters Squeezed my thighs and rear end. So, I'm guessing that your 2019 may have softer and not as sharp of an angle of side bolsters (or maybe wider seats) than my 2025 did. The people that claimed that the side bolsters were not a problem generally were people that were much heavier than 150 lbs. and a lot were over 200 lbs. -- they most likely were sitting on top of the Bolsters and squishing them down, as there is no way a 200 lb. person could fit between the side bolsters of a 2025 ES seat. Look at post #8 in this thread - 230 lbs. and a 2025 ES350 ------ Have you measured the distance between your side bolsters? Here is my seat on a 2025 ES350 UL

Owning over 50 cars I have never measured a seat to see if it would be comfortable. You sit in it and drive it on a long test drive and make a choice to buy or not. I bet you take 10 people that are the same height and weight and put them in the ES seat and over 80% will like it. We are a small fraction of the overall drivers of the ES on this forum.

Me too ! - I've also owned a lot of cars and never measured or complained about any of their seats. Until my 2025 ES350 UL. So I wanted to define exactly what the cause of my discomfort was. So, I measured the seat, and it was 12-13 inches between the side bolsters which were squeezing my thighs and rear end. Now being 5'8" and 145lbs, I could fit between the side bolsters, barely. But yourself, being 6'3" and 230 lbs, you've got to be sitting on top of them as you could not possibly be that small at the hips! So they are not squeezing you for sure ! --- And that is why the seats are fine for you.

My wife is 5.2 and weighs 120 and she loves the drivers seat, Finding a comfortable seat is indeed hard to find in today's market. I started driving in the early 70's. The 70's and the 80's had the best seats of all time IMO..The best seat I ever had in late model cars was the 06 ls 430 bar none.

Yes, I'm sure that your wife fits neatly between the side Bolsters with no side pressure at all. I tried to like and ignore the seats but in the end, my only solution was to get ride of the car. I can only compare it to a tight pair of shoes, that would never break in. Shortest time frame I've ever kept a new car in over 50 years of driving.
