Question about toll quickpass transponders
I was about to order windshield (interior) mounted toll transponders for our family cars but the NC Quickpass website warned that it might not work on these types of windshields:
The alternative is an exterior (bumper) mounted transponder but I don't want to go that route.
- Metallic/insulated/heated glass
- Solar/infrared reflective glass
- Automatic sensing wipers
- Low E glass or Night View Assist

I think many states have cameras located at their tolls so if a transponder does not register then the state will bill you based on who is the registered owner of the vehicle. A letter usually comes a month later. Those glass enhancements mentioned by the OP can and will interfere with reading sensors within your vehicle. Not only will they affects a toll transponder, they can and will affect radar detectors within you vehicle. Those glass enhancements mentioned in effect create a Faraday cage within your vehicle which impede electromagnetic radiation from entering (or leaving) your vehicle cabin, It’s all about physics. I would still recommend using a toll transponder but should it affect your trip let the state send you a bill. You will not be arrested. States do not have enough jails to adjudicate and hold all the people who don’t pay their tolls.
The toll is cheaper with the NC Quickpass. Mount it where will not interfere with any sensor and below shaded part. I am close to getting mine in NC also and I think when I looked to put dead center below shaded part and I think rear view mirror should block it from inside. Let me know how yours goes. With the pass the whole toll I think is around $8.5.

Couple of weeks ago coming back from beach to Durham the toll road is 5 minutes further if I take it so go regular route but a crash happened and google said extra 5 minutes so did not take just a short stretch of toll and ended up being close to half an hour. Next time I will get off on toll road when needed. Quick pass is free and just have to set up an account with I think min $20. If I ever do use I will keep at least that there because if not enough you don't get discount if they bill you.

Guest came in with the symptom that the rear view mirrors were always dark green dimmed.
Quick check revealed that they had attached the toll pass transponder over the auto dimming sensor on the windshield side of the inside mirror!

In the picture posted above by Matt is that covering any sensor by the transponder?
