To me, it looks like top layer delamination i.e., potentially due to or exacerbated by wear and tear of a high-use area. There's no replacing just that piece. You're looking at a door panel replacement.

Also stating as you're out of warranty and it's happening on both doors, I'm guessing the delamination is due to a deficiency in an early supplier run of this particular part. In other words they hadn't got the manufacturing nailed down on this particular part.

But on another topic ...
My ES is 14 months old w 4k miles. The Acorn colored leather driver's seat is stained (by the blue jeans a regularly wear ...?).
Does anyone have suggestions for seat cleaning.
Also, "stuff" has collected in the perforations on the bottom of one of the rear seats. Any ideas about clearing/cleaning that?
Thanks

Peole will be critical of me, but I have used lestoil on leather bags and shoes. It works great to gently lift stains. I would think it would work great on car leather. Try just a smal spot and see.

I use Lexol on my nuluxe seats for bleeding from jeans and does a pretty good job. dab some on and lightly scrub with a horsehair brush or something similar

As for the "stuff" or crumbs, I usually vacuum with a soft brush head and it'll eventually come out or I use very fine pick to dig it out

Sonax leather foam is the best thing I ever used to clean stains. Gyeon is pretty good but pricey.

I have had good luck with Weiman Leather Conditioner and Cleaner - it has a decent scent, cleans off any blue denim stains from my Palomino interior and leaves the leather feeling very soft. On those stained areas from the jeans I spray on the Weimans and then use a very soft brush (I’m actually using a very soft toothbrush), then wipe with a soft towel which lifts up the blue stains. I use it routinely just to wipe down and condition the seats.

Yeah, I wouldn't use anything but a quality, dedicated leather cleaner on leather. Other products might clean well, but could cause harm over the long haul. Replacing leather interior is too expensive to risk damage.

Do you park the car outside a lot? I looks like it was stretched but now it isn't. Did you use any products on it?
On another topic, Do you guys use leather conditioner/protector? I am in a relatively hot and sunny place so wondering what you suggest?
Also the steering wheel, what do you guys you use to clean?

Garage kept I am wondering if these areas were overstretched from factory and now relaxing. Taking to upholstery guy but it’s looking like whole door panel replacement $1500 for part. Love the car but this is disappointing.

I doubt it. just manufacturing/supplier issue of the fabric itself. regardless of the cause, it's something that you don't like and want to fix. Consider a used panel from eBay however the color may not match given different supplier runs. It will be a toss up.

You are correct according to the upholstery shop. They said that material delaminated due to humidity. Also he said that material is as thin as a latex glove. We are having him redo all doors in that spot with better material. I will post pics next week.

I guess when the glue lets go the vinyl (NuLux) relaxes and does that. FYI NuLux is a fancy word for vinyl!
