8th generation ES!
It's a hard NO from me for now on this new gen ES design.
Until those new looks of the Toyota Crown and Lexus ES grow on me later on, but I doubt it, it looks terrible, no more elegant and classy. What the F Lexus!
This video sums up my opinions: Lexus has f up the ES big time

Absolutely terrible redesign, I guess I'm out on getting an ES. That black stripe is absolutely hideous.
Really going to alienate their core buyers that want a traditional sedan.
If this is the direction lexus is going, might as well just buy a Tesla Model 3 (since this is what they are imitating)

I read that it's 6.5 inches longer. That's a lot. Is that correct?
So Toyota canned the V6, one of the finest engines out there with over 300 ponies. Toyota is putting their money on electric cars and the price of gas is going down. People living in apartments have no way of charging their vehicles, and, if I'm not mistaken, it has been shown that using electricity is more damaging to the environment than fossil fuel (and more expensive to produce). No one knows for certain that climate change is actually occurring, but plenty of naysayers. So Toyota is placing a bet on EV's that may not pan out, i.e. the spectacular reveal last night... Happy that it takes me about 6 minutes to fill my gas tank at Costco for just over $2.00 a gallon, and when I press my foot on the accelerator I have plenty of juice...

Quite frankly, Toyota has their eyes on the future. China is overtaking the US in terms of car sales, and something like 75% of their cars sold are EV. In the US it's about a tenth of that. And with rapidly changing import constraints, the US just is not the market that Lexus needs to entice right now. Case in point, the "reveal" we're all discussing right now is form the Shanghai Auto Show (China).

Late in 2024 I spent some time in Australia and had the opportunity to see some of the Chinese cars up close. Good looking cars that, according to numerous Aussies that I specifically asked about the cars reliability, quality, and service availability, did not have nice things to say about the vehicles. MG is one nameplate that has a very poor rep. Remember the British MG's of the 60's and 70's?... No more.

Whew! after reading those clips I don't know why anyone would want one...
I recall when you were pretty emphatically opposed to hybrids - but I can't recall if the transmission was one of your reasons. I knew we would win you over once you owned one for a while...
And when you look closely at the fit and finish and the materials. And then use your tactile senses and touch and feel and use the Lexus buttons and controls and then contrast and compare these with Tesla, there's just no comparison. None at all.
I think we can all take a breath, and if we need or want a BEV, the options from Lexus will blow away Tesla.
The 2026 RZ (already released in Europe and coming this summer to N. America) is the first model sporting the new battery packs and charging systems and is competitive in the market,
The 2026 ES will have these packs too.
And if you still have range issues how can you go wrong with a new RX or NX or TX plug-in hybrid with the new PHEV battery with 100 mile range.
I'd stack these vehicles up against Tesla's lineup all day long.
Lexus and Toyota are crushing it right now.

You're 100% spot on. I was a doubter for sure. So having driven the ES (which I still love by the way) 80k miles with a somewhat jerky trans, and now experiencing the RX with eCVT for the last year or so and 10k miles, it's really no contest at least for our driving these days. Not racing anyone and just love the 38 mpg on a 4,400 lb crossover!
