Default Dash Cam

Hi all, has anyone installed a dash cam on a 24 ES300h? I want to get one but don’t want one with wires that will goto cigarette lighter or requires complicated electric work. I heard some people say they had one that plugs to back of rear view mirror. Any experience?

I also use a fitxcamx. While the video isn't the best quality the installation, fit, and finish the the fitcamx makes up for it

Fitxcamx for the past four years!

Like how it integrates as part of the mirror setup.making it look like an original OEM option.

I can also vouch for Fitcamx. Had one on a Camry, a 4Runner, and a GX. Clean, easy install, no problems.

Fitcam is Great. I did follow the advice of others and add a larger, more reliable USB storage

The SD card that comes with it works really well. I've had two FitCamX's and neither have failed. One recommendation that I read was to use an "endurance" type memory card if the one that comes with it ever fails.

I followed the same advice but performance was seriously degraded with the upgraded card (128GB): jumpy/frozen video. Replaced with the card which came with the unit (64 GB) and performance has been flawless. Maybe there have been improvements because the website indicates it will accommodate the higher memory cards. My recollection at the time of my purchase was a recommendation to stick with the lesser memory card. Overall, very pleased with the FITCAMX.

in terms of memory cards, you'll want one made for constant write cycles aka endurance cards otherwise the internals wear out and cause unreliable videos, jumpy videos etc.

Thanks for the recommendations. I did not know there was such a neat and inexpensive way to add a dashcam to the ES. I have never had or needed a dashcam, but I just ordered a front only Fitcamx from their website, which had a 10% off deal today. You can buy them through Amazon for a slightly higher price, but it will still be shipped from China. Reviews stressed they give excellent customer service and installation is very easy. I got a prompt confirmation that I had emailed a proper photo of my car's mirror area to show I ordered the correct cam so they will ship immediately by the expedited method, which may take a week.

I also ordered a Sandisk 256GB High Endurance card from Amazon. I could not find any specs on how many hours of video the stock 64GB card holds before overwriting but could not see any reason not to try the max size card.

Amazon Amazon

Is the plastic housing on the right side of the ACC sensor housing in front of the mirror for a right hand drive dashcam? It looks kind of like the left hand drive dash cam that Lexus sells. Here is my car:

I figured I'd contribute to this thread for future reference. I installed this plug and play rear view adapter on my pop's ES300h. It was pretty much the same as my IS500. See below:

Carefully tuck adapter and wires into place. This can be a bit of a PITA

Edit: looks like last two photos were swapped, I'll edit when I get back to a PC, doing this from mobile.

Does anybody know how to remove a factory Lexus dash cam? They are garbage and I'd like to go the FitCamX route.
