Default 2023 navigation

When using my navigation I find it does not show red or orange markings on the highway to represent traffic slowdowns. However, the other day it did provide me with an optional diversion which would have extended my journey time by over an hour. I chose to ignore the diversion and followed the original route and got to my destination at the original quoted time. Google also quotes an estimated delay time. Am I missing something here?

In regards to the road coloring for traffic speed/slowdowns, check the setting of the "Traffic" toggle switch option.

On the Lexus navigation Map display, there's a three horizontal bars icon that when touched will open a map "More options" screen. On that screen, there's a "Traffic" toggle option that controls whether or not 1) traffic speed coloring of roads, 2) traffic direction arrows, and 3) road incidents and conditions are displayed on the map.

See the "Map options screen" section on page 109 of the 2023 LEXUS ES250, ES300H, ES350 NAVIGATION AND MULTIMEDIA OWNER'S MANUAL further details.

Thanks. I always read manuals but I guess I skimmed past that. There's so much to read! I'll read it more thoroughly now.

I never ignore the diversion because it's usually right even though you may think it will add time to your route. My 2024 also shows red when the highway is backed up. I've tested the Lexus Link system the navigation is tied to on several road trips against the Waze app and it either overrules Waze or it gives me the reroute long before Waze. I've used the Sirius XM Traffic subscription on a car that I owned previously and it was never better than Waze helping me avoid traffic. I tested my wife's 2025 BMW X5 navigation system last week on a short trip and it failed to warn me that a major interstate was backed up. Apple maps did that. I'm seriously considering paying for the Lexus Link subscription when mine runs out unless I trade the car.
