Default Front license plate options?

Just realized we had no instant way to put the required front plate (WA) on the spindle/predator grille.

Anyone recommend an adapter, option, or what do people do? I see adapters on Amazon for $30 to $60, get one, or some other better idea?

Thanks.

Live in CA and it's required to have front plate. Little over 2yrs and haven't had any issues. Haven't seen any adapters on the 7th gen ES and only the OEM location, absolutely ruins the look and clearly was an afterthought.

Weird. My 300h had the brackets and all for a front plate. It’s required in my state. I think Tesla’s don’t have front brackets. It seems like police look other way.

Even though I have never had a front plate on any of my Lexus cars, starting with the SC400 on which nobody would ever put a front plate, the dealer always gave me a bracket that fit the car. At the time, OH required two plates, and that might have been a state law, or perhaps Lexus always included that bracket for those states who mandated it. I have never had an issue with no front plate, although I live in the corner of Ohio right next to KY and IN which did not require front plates, so the local cops were accustomed to not seeing plates on the front.
A few years ago, OH dropped that requirement, mostly for budget reasons and against the wishes of the Highway Patrol, so I don't care much about that issue any more.
Since California has no budget problems, I would think that 2 plates will continue to be the requirement there for quite a while.
HOWEVER: as I posted here a few years ago, when my city cops were directed by enlightened municipal council to ticket cars parked in the Central Business District that were not displaying a front plate, I used two long nylon bolts through the plate, with acorn nuts that fit snugly between the vertical slats on the grill. Snap in and snap out in a second, and tight enough not to fall off if left on while driving. And no bracket. Details on request - not patented.

It's not that the police look the other way on the front plate violation; I think most of them have bigger fish to fry, and don't want to waste a half an hour to generate $25.00 for the county.

20 years, no issues in CA. Usually a no-plate infraction is an add-on infraction if you do something else. Unless you encounter a meter maid.

it helps to not be obnoxious too like drive around trying to flex w/ a fart can.

Your dealer will have the correct plate adapter.
It has connectors that reach through the grill and clip into place.
Our new ES 350 didn't have the adapter when we went to pick it up. But there was one in trunk, along with the floor mats, etc.
The person who was handing the car over to us took the license plate off out 2013 ES 350 got the adapter from the trunk and installed them both in about two minutes.

D’oh. Did not even check for a factory/dealer plate mounting option.

The car was bought CPO in Tampa (no front plates there IIRC), shipped to WA (plate required). They overlooked this (is not my car, friend/family I am helping).

Thanks to all replies.

Follow on: So the parts database stops at 2022. No reason it would not fit a 2023, correct? This is the part for a 2022 I find in the Bell Lexus database, $60:

p/n 5211406550

Back in 2007 - 2011 the ES front plate bracket screwed right through the smooth body color
bumper cover and was secured only by the two course thread screws. If you moved to a one (1)
plate required state or bought a used car and wished to remove the ugly fixture the disfigured holes
were horrible, torn scraps of black plastic hanging out. Lame color keyed plugs were sold aftermarket
to slightly clean up the look.
Now the bracket has better locating construction with hooked tabs that will almost hold the plate and
holder except in carwashes and at high road speed. The screws now go into the recessed back panel
of the grill, even if later removed it will barely show. Twirl a countersink drill bit by hand to clean it up.

Some more options, if you want to be legal, and also illegal at a whim.

Search Google for : retractable front license plate mount
