Warranty claim
I had to get my steering column replaced under warranty. My factory warranty covered that but the dealership is now charging me for a 4 wheel alignment. This seems odd to me but wanted to see if it should be covered anyways
If it was solely because the under warrant repair required it then the Lexus warranty covers the cost. From the XXXX Lexus ES 350, ES 250 Warranty and Services Guide:
This warranty covers repairs and adjustments needed to correct defects in materials or workmanship of any part supplied by Lexus, subject to the exceptions indicated under “What
Is Not Covered” on pages 19–20.
Is Not Covered” on pages 19–20.
If the 4 wheel alignment was not required by the under warranty repair and the dealership did the work without your explicit authorization, you need to consult Florida's auto repair consumer protection laws to see what recourse you may have. Many states have provisions that the auto repair establishment must provide a work and parts estimate including estimated cost to you and get your approval BEFORE performing the work and if work is done without approval, the establishment cannot force payment for non approved work and parts.
Why did the dealership do the 4 wheel alignment?

Note the "and adjustments".
