Default Touchscreen locked to Lexus Nav

Hey all - purchased my first Lexus in Nov. 2023 ES 350 w/ premium package and navigation package. Absolutely love it. However, on probably 3 occasions, the touchscreen is locked to the Lexus navigation screen. Touchscreen is completely non-responsive. I've tried both "hey Siri" and "hey Lexus" to try to open Apple Carplay but it just reverts back to the Lexus navigation screen. The only fix I've found is to restart the car. The most recent time this happened, I didn't notice it until I was on the road so I had to pull over to restart the car.

Has anyone else had this issue? Is this common? I thought about taking it back to the dealership to see if they would reload the software.

Thank you for the input!

Something to try is press and hold the volume/power button down until the screen restarts. I had a couple glitches in the RAV4 and doing that fixed it without having to restart the vehicle.

Thank you! I'll try that if/when it happens again.

You should also check for a software update for your screen. There is a chance that is a known bug?? If you have the latest software version make a note or even short video of it so you can show it to the dealer service dept. But, do try the volume/power trick too.

Our RAV4 is the Prime 2021 version. I reported the screen freezing issue and they applied a software update and it never happened again. In your car, you can do the software updates yourself, whereas in 2021 you could not. Also, there was a TSB for my issue.

I was able to update my audio / navigation on my 2021. There were two different files that updated the car via usb.

As a data point, we've got a 2023 es 300h with the 12.3 inch display. The system has it's quirks, but we haven't seen any lockups or slowness at all. The biggest issue we see is every so often the initial phone connection isn't always seamless, but once connected with carplay no issues.
