Just picked up an Rx 350 for my wife. It has wireless carplay/AA. Is there any way we can add the oem wireless to a 22 es? These after market wireless dongles work like crap. I'd be willing to shell out a couple hundred bucks to make this work right. In the Rx 350 it comes on immediately full screen.
Other than full head unit swap from a 2023, that may not work, there are only 3rd party alternatives. I have the Motorola MA1 and have been pretty happy with it. Connects quick and no cables out. I just wish the USB port was in the center console compartment versus just sticking out with the cupholder.
Thanks for the reply, does motorola come up full screen on the vehicle?
I tried the Motorola sound unit,. It arrived doa from best buy so I took it back and they didn't have another one. I'm using the carlinkit 4.0 and it does work. It has about a 30 sec delay,. Also it's not showing the full screen and won't work with anything but touchscreen input.
I see some people have removed that door that covers USB,. I haven't done it yet, but I would like to try.

For my 2020 ES300h I am using the carlinkit T Box plus which turns the whole 12.3 inch screen into an android tablet. It also has wireless android auto and carplay but don't use it because google maps is full screen and works great. I use hotspot from my phone which uses about 8% battery on 3 hour trip and doesn't get hot. Wireless android auto kills battery and gets hot. Touchpad also works or bluetooth mouse. A touch screen would work better but works ok with pad.

That would be tough on a mobile phone plan that limits how much tethered data you can use in a month as I stream music/videos/podcasts all the time while driving and I drive a lot.
Agree you would need an unlimited plan. Also the T Box Plus has a place for a sim card and micro sd card so a cheaper unlimited plan could be for car for data and also used as a hotspot. On my 3 hr trips using maps with satellite view is minimal but streaming videos would be GB of data which adds up quick so don't do.

Just picked up a 22 ES late last year and have been using Ottocast with short USB ribbon connection where you can close the entire console door without making any modifications. Not once has the Ottocast unit missed connecting...generally in less than 15 seconds, phone and music through phone sound good. I was worried about lag but found it's so small that I don't notice it anymore. Couldn't be more pleased to have a dependable solution that one cannot notice whether console door is up or down for $87 ($79 Ottocast from Amazon and $8 cord from AliExpress). Unfortunately, it sounds like you've had different, bad, experience with a wireless conversion unit (or two). Best of luck.
