I use Pennzoil Platinum Full Synthetic. A lot of the other members here use Mobil One full synthetic. I owned a 2006 Avalon with the same engine that's in my 2013 Lexus. That engine used dino oil and the change interval was 7500 miles. With the full synthetic it's now 10k miles. I believe that the changeover to full synthetic came about in either 2012 or 2013. If I'm incorrect on that someone will let us know..

I prefer to use Eneos Sustina 0W-20 or Castrol Edge w/Titanium 0W-20 in the gold bottle. All 0W-20 are synthetics. So at this point it is just preference of brand...
I believe the changeover to full synthetics started either in 2013/2014 models...

Whatever the dealer puts in, since the first oil change is free. After that, I will try the dealer one time, see what he charges, and decide at that point how to handle future oil changes.

Thanks all for your replies,I believe most of the oils that were recommended
are good choices. The Enos oil,at least around here ,is hard to find. All the others I have seen
in local auto parts stores. Thanks again for the info.

Forgot to tell you Good Luck with the new car, and as you've already found out, this is a great place for answers. Come back often.

I've got a 2015 RX 350. Changed the synthetic at 7500. I don't drive much - I was getting told by the oil change place (I didn't go to the dealer) that despite using synthetic the oil needs to be changed due to time even if the mileage was not high. He said the engine cleaning stuff in the oil breaks down with time. He said max would be 6 months no matter how low the mileage was. Anyone have comments about the length of TIME between oil changes? Thanks for any advice.

Thanks, bc6152. That's what I thought the advice would be. I've also got a BMW pushing a year with only 4k since last (synthetic) oil change...was getting antsy. (I like your '66 Vette and Model A, too! )
Thanks for your help.

Well it really ticks me off when I see a company trying to take advantage of someone by stretching the truth. In reality, synthetic oil - unlike dino oil - has certain additives that DON't break down over time. This is why other members on this forum, if my memory serves me, have reported that BMW has gone to a 15k mile interval for oil changes. The synthetic is that good and keeps getting better. Glad to help and that's why we're all here. This is a great forum.

I use Mobil 1 5W-30 because 0W-20 is recommended for political (EPA fuel economy standards) reasons, not engine protection reasons. Outside of the USA, where politics don't matter, Lexus owners manuals say oils even thicker than 5W-30 can be used in the 2015 2GR-FE V6 (except in winter, of course).
