Default WOW!!! What A Difference.....Replaced Dash Speakers

First off, let me thank all the dudes who originally posted about the speaker upgrades, and the great guys who responded to my many questions about the process. I finally was able to dislodge the release buttons on the factory harnesses and got the dash corners replaced. And unlike Camfused, I think, found that the Infinity 4032s wired up black wire to black wire with the Metra harnesses. I modified those Metras by just grinding them on the grinding wheel on my workbench. And I just bent the unused speaker tabs with some duckbill pliers and everything tucked away nicely. I turned on the stereo and just had to go for a ride even though I hadn't done the center speaker yet. I thought it all was good enough to start thinking about not replacing the center speaker.

Boy, was I wrong!
Back in the garage, I figured, what the heck and changed the center speaker since so many said it was terrible. I got the center one done pretty quickly. Then, I turned the system on with all dash speakers replaced...>WOW and double WOW!!! I adjusted settings to levels others had mentioned and and it was more amazing. The bass really kicks now! On several HD channels, it was thumping and I went out for another ride down the road which lasted about 35 minutes as I went thru all my presets and was almost stunned by the huge upgrade. During the ride I changed the surround to ON.....and was wowed again! What clarity and what thumping bass, especially with the HD channels.

I probably will change out the door speakers with Infinitys, front and back, but really dont think I need to. However, I've always changed out speakers and radios in every car or truck Ive owned, so speakers are set for the future. Along with that the biggest thing will be sound deadening doors and dash speakers, and changing the tires to quiet down their noise. So speakers in the doors will get done. I already bought two rolls of the Lowe's Frosty sound deadner which is actually for HVAC duct work, but its got rave reviews as a sound deadner.

Thanks again to all, and the wonderful sharing of tech knowledge for this newbie to Lexus. My 2015 ES350 is in great shape, bought it with 124K on the clock, but all fluids are new, 'cept transmission, the body is in excellent shape (was driven lots of highway miles) and the interior is cherry....once I used an ozone machine for two 30 minute sessions to kill the cigarette stench! Looking forward to my first long trip to my daughters wedding on the Georgia barrier islands in two weeks. But Im gonna love driving with my "new" sound system and Im already thrilled with the overall Lexus driving experience compared to my Mercury Grand Marquis, Chrysler New Yorkers, and even my old 85 BMW 500 series.

I just ordered these from Amazon. They had them for $54 per pair. What are the level settings that others had mentioned? I’ll probably be doing the install next weekend.

If you just bought one set, I have a spare new-in-box 4032 speaker and two of the red wolfe wire harnesses ($14). $30 for all and postage

Sorry man, I ordered two pairs myself. But what were the level settings you mentioned?

Good to see you experienced the change. It's very, very noticeable. I still suggest that some of you who do this try the Infinity Kappa speakers, especially the M/L system ES's. I still have a Set of Infinity Reference REF-3032cfx I trialed against the Kappa's. Big difference in sound and details even still vs the Reference series. Kappa have much more intrament and Vocal seperation without the muddyness up top that the Reference have. Much broader range in the Kappa's too. I have the still original in the box a new set of the Reference REF-3032cfx for sale. Kappa's win, far more detailed, and sound, way better as opposed to some harness in the Reference from mid volume on up.

I noticed you motioned the Trans fluid too. I would do a couple of drain and fills if I was you. No Flush just drain and fill. Nice to change out the filter if you can find someone who would do it at a reasonable price. You can also save some money and use the Valvoline Toyota fluid Full synthetic from Walmart for only $18.

Some good info -

Ill check out that link. I was going to get the Kappas but I thought the ohms made it incompatible with the base 2015 and no ML system? Am I wrong and the Kappas can be used?

Just finished replacing all three dash speakers with the Infinity 4032. The result was a little bit of a let down. I can tell that it sounds clearer, but not really more volume than before. @Beemer46 had mentioned some specific level adjustments recommended by others. Does anyone know what those are?

I assume here you didn't have the stock ML audio and was the base system?
