Auto high beam Headlamps issue
So i always keep the Auto High Beam turned on because of its good for where i drive and how often i drive
But i have noticed that the area on the dash where it will show that Auto is on will automatically go away and turn off and then sometimes i have to turn the vehicle off and then back on to be able to get it to start showing AUto again and start working again. sometimes i can play around with the button on the left side dash and get it to activate again but is this normal is it set to do this when its been on along enough or what's going on any ideas? thank you.
This is on my 2016 ES300h

If you turn the high beams off by pulling back on the stalk or press the button they we no longer be in auto.. you will have to press the auto button again after you push the stalk back to high beams on.
sometimes i can mess with the stalk and the button on the dash and get it to go back on but not always
yeah i understand this what i am saying is that for no reason at all the Auto High beam just shuts off i don't pull the lever i dont push the button it just stops working and i have to either shut the car off and turn it back on to get it to start working again

I have noticed the same thing happening occasionally on my 2017. The manual might have more info on the subject but my experience seems to tell me that if it stays on auto for an inordinate amount of time without being used it defaults to an off status. It's not happened enough for me to be overly concerned about it and its simple enough to reactivate it if desired. I would check the manual and if there's no info there on it ask the dealer next time your car is in for service.

I drive alot of mountain roads so it its always working not a long period of time without it going on and off just stops
i am going to go into the dealership next week.
where exactly is the sensor that is for the Auto High beams?
i have done more research on this issue and it seems to be an issue that was happening on some models around 2014-15-16 and something about the Ambient Light Camera or something like that thats in the window behind the mirror or in front of the rearview mirror.

Solution was that the system turns the auto light off when the parameters aren't met (like a dirty windshield). The camera you can see by looking at the front of the car near the top center. I'd ask the dealer to re calibrate/clean the camera.
