How to repair passenger side mirror
Unfortunately, while backing my car out of the garage my husband hit the garage frame and caused a scuff/scratch to the passenger side mirror on the paint area and scuffs to the clear plastic area on the mirror as well. Fix, replace mirror, take to Lexus or Toyota dealer for repair??
thx

I would take it to a local body shop first to see if the "scuffs" can be removed with simple buffing or if the paint is badly damaged it will need to be refinished (repainted). If cost is no concern take it to a Lexus dealer,.I'm sure they will do an excellent job.

Most Lexus dealers will outsource that work. You might be able to find out where they send their certified cars for minor body work (bumpers, hood, etc) by finding a certified car on their lot, taking that VIN number and then go to lexus.com and look at the service history for that car. If it had any body work done you will see where they sent it in the repair history.

Hey there! I'm pretty sure you could just buy the cover. It's plastic, I had to remove it to change my puddle light to make it LED. It's a simple job too, just a couple of screws and it'll pop out.

I dropped my cover while changing the puddle lights and it's all scratched up now. I havnt seen somewhere that sells just the plastic outer covering

Yeah, just checked, sorry guys.
I found a few, but they're $100+ on eBay, you might be better off seeing if you could get it painted. They also have chrome covers, carbon fiber covers for cheaper if you're into that.

It's not too bad, I was able to do both in about 30 min. It's a T10 bulb like almost everything else.
First you have to put the mirror all the way up. With one hand push on the top part and with your other hand pull outward .this does take a lot of force, but you have to be careful, its easy to break the plastic tabs.
After that, there are 4 screws to remove, once you do, the back plastic part of the housing will come apart. Slide it out and the housing for the puddle light will be there. Twist the bulb out and put the new one in. Make sure to check if the light works, if it doesn't you might have either put in the bulb backwards or didn't push it in far enough. After you make sure everything works, put everything back in reverse.
Let me know if you get it, if not I can try making a quick video later. Be careful with pulling the mirror out, it takes a lot of force, but irit still fragile.

I agree with Singh. But for me I was losing patience. It took me closer to an hour only because I really didnt want to break the plastic tabs. But I managed to do it. Unfortunately dropping my plastic cover and scratching it in the process. Which brings us back to the topic at hand.
