Default cooling system

I just noticed the cooling system on the two left vents are cooling warm instead of cold but the other vents on the right seem to be ok. Seems to be some rattling from time to time that I hear from the vents as well. Any idea what this may be? Would it be under warranty, vehicle has 32k. Thanks!

What year is your car and when did you purchase it?

This can be attributed to several issues. One, it may be an electric servo motor that has gone south and no longer opens and closes the gates that determine whether cold or hot air come thru the vents. The other issue it may be is simply a recharge of the compressor. Low Freon will cause, sometimes, warm air on one side and cold on the other. Hope that it's the Freon as it would be a lot less than replacing a servo motor tucked up under the dash. You can get your Freon level checked and if low, just get a recharge. You can get Freon at your local auto supply with a gauge and hose attachment. As far as being under warranty, you would have to check with Lexus to see if you're still covered.

GOOD LUCK!

Thanks! Why does it seem like when you go to Lexus or dealerships for any warranty work, sometimes they seem to find a way for things not to be under warranty??

Well if the car has warranty coverage for this issue then go to Lexus. If not, go to your local trusted independent mechanic to get checked out. You'll pay a lot less. Let us know how you make out and what it was...

Whether it is covered by the factory warranty or not would depend on when the car was bought by its original owner. The factory bumper-to-bumper warranty is for 4 years (or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first). So, if your car was bought by its original owner after September, 2014, it should be covered by the factory warranty. If it was originally bought before then, it would not be covered by the factory warranty.

However, if you bought the car from a Lexus dealer as a CPO vehicle, it should be covered by the CPO warranty.

If it was not a CPO vehicle and if the original owner bought it more than 4 years ago, it would not be covered by either warranty.

It all depends on what month in 2014 the original purchaser purchased it from Lexus as you are under the 50K mileage so you're good there. Doubtful but hopefully the car was originally purchased in 2015.
