I got this email too. It's a huge disappointment to this community. Their prices and CS have been outstanding as well as being a great resource.

I have been using Sewell for some time, they will be missed.

Anyone have alternative sites for parts?

"On this date, the sewellparts.com site will redirect to sewell.com/orderparts where you may complete a parts order form for any of our genuine manufacturer parts."

Maybe I'm missing something here that others aren't. It seem to me that the message is that the name of the web site is changing. That's it. One can still buy parts from Sewell...

That is what I thought, too, but I figured that I must be missing something because, on most of the Lexus model boards here, there are new threads with people bemoaning the fact that they won't be able to buy parts from Sewell in the future.

But I wonder whether we will still get the same prices (with the Club Lexus discount)?

So are they just changing the website name?

I might be in the minority but it appears to me that Sewell is updating their web site and only changing the name. I intend to send an email to their customer service department to see if we still get a discount. I'm betting we will. Time will tell and I'll report back.

Update: I sent the email a few minutes ago 225pm EST. and am waiting for a reply.

FYI: The below is the response that I got, along with my question:

On Feb 20, 2015, at 12:21 PM, Lexus Parts <lexusparts@SEWELL.com> wrote:

Mr. Berry,

Thank you for your past business. We regret to inform you that as the website goes away, so do the forum discounts and online discounts. Parts purchased from our retail portal will be “in store” retail pricing. Furthermore, we will be shipping to our immediate DFW regional customers with flat-rate shipping. We do not like relaying any of this to you.

Best regards,

Subject: Re: An Important Announcement from Sewellparts.com

Quick question - I have enjoyed the discounts from ordering online through Sewell at SewellParts.com, especially considering that I don’t have a Lexus dealer within a 2 hour drive. May I expect that Sewell will continue to provide favorable online discounts as well as a discount for being a Club Lexus member? Service at Sewell has been impeccable, but the price I have received has sealed the deal on my OEM parts.

Thanks,

Well looks like you have the answer. Interesting that whoever wrote the reply stated "we do not like relaying any of this to you". Too bad as it was a money saver.

Thanks for the update and answer Micah.

I am sure it is a business decision. But it seems very odd. Surely, the people behind Sewell Lexus have to realize that a large part of their good reputation came from the online community. They have, apparently, decided to flush that reputation down the toilet.

Reputation takes a long time to earn, but a very short time to destroy...

I have to wonder which Lexus dealer will step up to offer deals to this online community. They will, of course, get the business...

Other reports within Club Lexus, state the decision was made by Lexus corporate. Other dealers were complaining of being undercut.

They also had some good links on parts diagrams on their site. I found those invaluable to determine how difficult or complex a particular a job might be. I'm afraid this may go as well.

Yep - pretty sad to see this change. I ordered a case of oil filters, other misc filters, and brake pads (front and rear) for a 570 that I have not even taken delivery of.

They will be missed - a great part supplier
