What do you guys think? I found this ça at a Lexus dealership. I checked the maintenance on line and it appears it was very well maintained.
the asking price I’d $14,000.
What’s the catch?
Don't think there is a catch, it's a 10 year old Lexus ES. $14,000 USD is more than I would pay for one. Although it's a great car, the fact they're cheaply available (reliability, comfort) is what makes it great. If you're going to spend $14,000, aim to get a 6th gen ES or perhaps a GS, or a newer Toyota Camry or Avalon that has more tech and features.
You are paying for the really low mileage. I agree with Zereldo, for that amount of money look at the other vehicles he recommended as they have much more modern and better tech and features.

I’d argue these are better than the 6th Gen ES, and unless you’re looking for “sporty” or like the looks of the GS over the ES, which I personally do, there is no practical reason for the GS over the ES, as an owner of several GSs
the newer camrys and Avalons, especially in this price range, are typically going for more money than the equivalent Lexus, and doubt they’ll offer much more in features. Aside from the lane safety stuff, which I’m not a fan of, sans BSM, and car play, which nothing else in the price range will have, there aren’t really any more modern features over a “loaded” 2010 ES.

The thing is, is not loaded based on the pictures. Is "base".
Then find out how long it has been on their lot. The longer it has been there, the more they will discount the price. Offer 11,000 and watch their reaction.
Also with this age and low miles, the tires may need to be replaced due to age. The Rubber Manufacturers recommendation is to replace tires after 7 years regardless of mileage due to rubber oxidation, dry rot etc. You can decode the tire date from the serial number on the tire. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiret...s&gclsrc=aw.ds
That is how Paul Walker got killed, one of the tires on the car was almost 20 years old and blew out!
I bought a 2011 ES with 22,000 miles for $17000 a month ago. Having owned a 2015 ES I can say that this car rides softer, is quieter and the seats are more comfortable. In addition it has navigation with touch screen rather than the mouse joy stick thing. IMO it is easier to use. Im 70 so I was looking for an easy rider, maybe you are looking for a more "sport" ride. If that is the case go for a next gen ES.
Some of you may think I paid too much but the car is like new, a one owner Florida car. Plus my wife loves the color.

im glad I’m not the only one who likes the 07-12 more than the 13-18.
We purchased our 12 when the 13s came out, with the intention of getting the 13. After driving the 2 and contemplating which we liked more we came home with the 12.
The catch with very old cars is you probably need to pay cash for it. This is where bank financing makes a killing on higher car loan rates approaching 5-8%+ . The best rates are for the newer cars. Old stuff? They seem to think you're a fool to contemplate buying such a vehicle (regardless of how many miles it has). Put it differently, if you had to sell it -- how long would it take to find a buyer ? It could mean months of dropping prices until someone's bargain $$ is triggered or go the dealer route and get rid of it. Some car models do hold their value for a while or may even appreciate if it is an in-demand classic (thinking of certain BMW models, or Porsche, or even an S2000).
My friend is 68 and owned a 2010 Camry since new. He sold to his neighbor for $9000. He bought a 2020 ES350. He likes that its fast but he hates the technology. He doesn't like the ride due to the low profile tires. He looks longingly at his old Camry sitting next door.
My point is that to some of us its worth taking a chance on an older car with low miles that isn't all that high tech and still has years of life left in it. Yes, financing an older used car and then selling that car in future is a consideration for some buyers.

If you're confident in the history from a Car Fax, love the drive and the color- no reason not to enjoy it for many years . . . .a bit high for the year, but probably not for the miles.

Not a good deal if you know how to maintain your car and fix some stuff yourself. If you want something new and you are not handy it can last you a long time without a problem. The sweet spot to buy these cars is when they have 100k miles on the odo. Then you can change the struts and a small tune up makes the car like new.

Your car looks great, is that Cerulean Blue? I think we have the same cars.
