Manually Opening Hood
Hey guys,
I have had issues for years where when I go on vacation and come back, my ES350 2007 is dead. I jump it normally, and it’s fine, but last time it happened I got locked out with the car running after jumping - weird enough - and had to have a locksmith unlock the car for 100$. This time everything is completely dead, can’t open the trunk hood doors nothing - the manual key open doesn’t work (window repair years ago) which I learned a couple months ago.
I have a jump box and just need to get the trunk open to start the damn car. I pulled off the under guards , and can push the latch that opens the hood after it’s popped but am not sure how to actually pop the hood. I see a plastic guard thing that looks like it could be the pop but don’t wanna scree anything up. Any suggestions?
Ps. There is a third party system draining the battery I know so don’t worry about addressing that plz and thanks!

Wait, your jump box is in the trunk?

I think your best option at this point is to get a locksmith to actually open the car. That way you can just pop the hood without tearing the car apart. Or find a professional car thief

There is a key hole on the drivers door.

If you can touch the latch from underneath, can you reach the positive post of the battery? You only need to reach the positive post; the ground cable can be attached to any part of the chassis. You can then charge your battery enough to open the doors. Just make sure you attach the cable to the positive terminal correctly - make sure it does not touch the hood!. The positive post will be on the engine side; the negative post will be on the fender side. You can also find a positive cable at the starter - an un-fused cable goes to the starter from the battery - I believe the cable is black with a red line.
If you had AAA, vehicle lookout is included in the service. The entry level membership is less than $100 year, and includes towing, emergency gas, spare tire replacement, plus a few other stuff. Most convenient is that many AAA branches in CA include DMV services. Good luck; hope you get through this without too much aggravation. .
