My factory radio receiver connector for the microphone is a 16 pins ( E73), as shown on the attached picture. Just connect pin1 (Mic-), pin2 (Mic+) of E73 to my after-market radio receiver microphone cable. And connect +5vdc power to pin7 (Mcvd). That's it! And I just enjoy the original factory microphone nicely! No picture for the setup, sorry and good luck...!
Thanks for posting this info on the factory mic. I bought a step down and followed the wiring scheme you provided but the mic still isn't working. Here's the connector I'm splicing from. I believe it's 73. I'm connecting PIN 1 and PIN 2 to the microphone cable that plugs into my stereo unit. I'm connecting PIN 7 to the 5V+ and the black cable of the step down to the common ground. Any help is greatly appreciated.

"I'm connecting PIN 1 and PIN 2 to the microphone cable that plugs into my stereo unit."

Just swapping Pin1 (-) and Pin2(+) to see if it work. Make sure pin 7 has +5VDC.
It has been a long time to remember, but it work for me. Sorry and good luck to you!
