Question Help-trying to install a new headunit

Hello guys( and the occasional gals). I am trying to put an aftermarkey stereo in my 99 gs300. LCD is out on factory one. Anyways. I found plaenty of dash kits but I was told no wiring harness is in existence for this model of car. Anyone ever hardwire an aftermarket radio in? Please help. I need to know which wire is is which? lol..sounds real funny but with a factory amp I just want to be sure. also a wiring diagram would be helpful. Thanks.

if you swap out your factory stereo to aftermarket, you will lose your factory sub. no one on here knows how to make the factory sub work yet, trust me i've asked around... you will have to get a regular 1990+ toyota harness and extend the wires so it is long enough to be at the stereo area. the factory toyota plugs are plugged into your factory amp (located behind the glove box to the right) so that is where you need to unplug the factory plugs and plug them into the toyota harness.

I just finished installing Eclipse AVN5510 on my 98 GS400 today.

I spent a few days searching for related info on CL. Take a look at these threads:

good luck.
