Smile Updating non ML audio system to ML

I am totally not impressed with the stock audio in my 2008 es350. I am thinking if I should go with Mark Levinson speakers, etc; buying these used and swapping. Has anyone actually done this; if so how did it turn out? I have seen several posts where people have upgraded with new non ML brand names and I am thinking of doing that as well, but only if I am convinced not to go the Mark Levinson route. I would love to hear what folks have to say on this subject.

You can't just swap the head unit for a ML head unit. You will also need the ML speakers, ML amp, ML speaker mounts and any wiring that the base model left out. That's a lot of stuff for a small upgrade. Go to Ebay and look at the ML speakers. They look like Walmart brand just like the base models.

The upgrade to an aftermarket system is easier, cheaper and will sound better. You can also do it in steps like I did.

Listen to Robert_J...look for some threads a few pages back or use the search.

The stock system leaves a lot to be desired to say the least, I replaced the speakers & amps plus I disconnected that passive radiator and added a sub all at once. It wasn't cheap but it was definitely worth the upgrade.

This is a great thread!.
