Question Vents switch from fresh to recycled air while driving...WHY???

I constantly have to keep my eye on the dash because like the title says, the vents will go from fresh air (where I always keep it) to recycled air and then the car gets warm inside...can anyone explain why this keeps happening?

Quite annoying actually...

If the HVAC is set to Auto, the system will cycle back and forth as needed. You might check and see if Auto is selected and turn it off. That might help.

Even when not on auto and with fan off, when the temperature rises above 50-something (I don't know exactly), it will switch the recirc to on. This will happen even if the fan is off. This is part of the HVAC programming from what I can tell.

What I found that works for me to prevent it from going to recirc, turn the fan on to any setting, increase the temperature to a bit higher (as long as it is not on LO), and then it will switch the recirc to off. Then, even if the fan is off, the recirc won't come on. Try and see what setting works the best for you

Yes this is when not on auto and the fan off...I do have the temp control turned all the way down though...will try what you suggest and report back. I just like to have fresh air without the use of the fan or AC.

Thanks guys...

Raina, what do you think of the ES350 now that it's been back on the road for a while?

I don't think there is such a thing as fresh air anymore.

Actually Raina is my wife's name (and her car), my name's John.

We love this car, have already taken it to Bakersfield and SF and the ride is incredibly smooth...we're both very impressed.
Excellent smooth power as well from the V6 which runs seamlessly on regular Shell gasoline.

I'm headed to the powder coaters tomorrow to look at different colors...again...just not happy with the gold-bronze finish that looks SO much different then what the sample we both liked and approved. I'm trying hard to live with them but in the end, I've decided I don't want to "have to like them anymore" so we'll go Round 2 on having them refinished.

I've always kept it on recycled air to keep it more efficient. To make matters more confusing my a/c has an "AUTO" position and so does the recyclele switch.
