I purchased an extended warranty
With my 2009 ES350 about to turn 4 years old, I called Jerry Johnson at Midwest Toyota. I had used him in the past to buy an extended warranty for my wife's Toyota Sienna Minivan. Anyway I bought the 8 year/ 100k miles Lexus Platinum zero deductible plan for less than half of the price my local dealer wanted to charge me.
One phone call, 10 minutes, and I have peace of mind for the next four years. Jerry is a great guy!

Yeah, the dealer I purchased my car from wanted $3400 for the 8 year/ 100k miles warranty. I want to have peace of mind for the next 4 years, but not at that price! I would post the price I paid, but I'm not sure the mods allow that.

I found my old receipt for the Lexus Platinum Extra Care Extended Warranty: 60 months / $0 deductible / 70,000 miles = $735.00 dated 10/5/2011. Negotiated with dealer after quoting and informing dealer that we would purchase online. He matched the pricing.

Certainly worth getting it for half the normal price. Kinda sucks you almost have to hope something major breaks so it'll have been worth buying, but at least you're protected.

That was my issue too. Cost of repairs (replacements) at Lexus is high. When I traded my 2007 in, there was time left on the warranty and we received a rebate check from Lexus / Toyota for about $300 or so. If you deduct that from the $735 we paid out for the 2011, then it net costed us about $400. Something about taking the car to the dealer and saying fix it without a care as to the cost (so long as its covered) is good. I was never a fan of the extended warranty but with all of the module type parts used, I think it is worth it. I overpaid the first time, even opting for the wheel / tire warranty but never could use (curb rash not covered). That was my wife's add on decision. Did not get that warranty this time.
